issue with radio

so i have a 2004 g35 coupe problem is that radio will work with steering wheel controls, however when you try to operate it from the radio controls it wont work it wont power on change modes anything at all, all the fuses are good what could be the issue? :confused:

03-04 stereo decks are crap....known for problems.
