Hello everyone, first post of course... My name is Tariq, I'm from Bahrain, the Arabian Gulf  ...I've been silently browsing these awesome forums for a while now and really it's been such a great source of info but I couldn't find a solution for all this noise my exhaust is making...

I own a 2009 V6 Altima and I've been making some plans for a little HP gains...I started off with the K&N short intake, and currently working on my exhaust...I bought & installed Greddy RS 60MM mufflers, doing that I found no noticeable HP gains, but I deleted the mid muffler and replaced the whole midpipe with a 2.5 inch pipe...now that DID give me a huge increase in performance that I could notice, and at the same time the sound went crazily high and noisy that I feel like throwing up while driving the car.

I thought I should install a resonator or mid muffler(I don't know what exactly they're called but someone to silence the exhaust) but I couldn't find any! I searched Greddy, Stillen, I even took a look at the 350's HR stock mid muffler but it wouldn't fit.

So I'm looking for a solution for all this noise but I don't want to lose the performance which would be a resonator but I have no idea where else to look...so if anyone has been through what I'm going through and has an idea of what I should do now because making custom exhaust is really a pain in the a**! Many thanks :)

#1 screen name seems familiar ;)

#2 welcome to nico

#3 Did you remove the stock y-pipe/3rd catalytic converter?

#4 if the answer to #3 is yes, then your problem is that you installed 2 fart cans to an essentially straight piped exhaust. Hence the loud obnoxious noise.

#5 I think your best bet is to try a resonator of some sort. Most aftermarket exhaust companies sell universal straight through resonators that will absorb some of the sound. They shouldn't really rob power being that they are straight through, but should muffle the drone/high pitch sounds.

#1 it's PheNoM originally but since that's taken already, I had to mix it with my last name(Zainal) haha

#2 thank you :)

#3 I did not touch my stock y-pipe at all. I removed my whole mid-pipe along with the mid-pipe in it, just until there. Although my next step is to get the racingline performance y-pipe, I had to stop there to deal with the loud noise the exhaust is making

#5 I'll try googling some more again but if you have any names or links please share !

Thank you !
