Hi everyone, this issue happened to me two days ago. My car, 2011 Infiniti M37x, showed me a message that the key fob battery needed to be changed. I swapped out the battery and now the car isn't responding to the key fob. The most I can get my key fob to do is open the trunk. Other than that, I can't use the keyless entry anymore.

Does anyone have a solution for this? I've already considered going to an automotive locksmith, but I don't want to spend money yet.

Does the car start if you push the start button with the fob like 2 cm away from it?

I had this issue on my car...back when I was under warranty. My dealer gave me 2 new FOBs and did a program. I also tried changing batteries.

The car starts and the warranty has already expired. My car also doesn't have a visible hub for the key fob.

None of the 2011+ cars do. The hub for the key was a 06-10 thing (possibly on the Y34 too but don't quote me on that).

I think you need two fobs and a re-program...sounds like the issue I had.

I would first make sure that the "new" battery is at least 3-VDC. Instead of a hub you call it, you just tap the key fob on the push to start/stop button. The switch will read the chip and enable you to start the engine normally.

When I bought my M, I purchased 2 additional keyless entry fobs on fleabay for $80 and had a local locksmith program all of them to include the original. You have to have at least one working fob to reprogram all and it cost me $40.

If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage on the "new" battery and make sure it didn't shelf-discharge. Healthy is 3.01V or higher, 3.0V or less is verging on dead. Also, if it's a 2032 try using a 2025, the extra thickness of the 2032 will sometimes distort the contacts. Since one of the buttons works, also make sure the PCB and the rubber contact mat are aligned properly. It's very unusual for a fob to need a repro after battery replacement, but not unheard of. On rare occasions it can even kill the fob. The culprit in those rare instances is usually static discharge from your hands corrupting the fob's memory.
