Has anyone ever used the ISR RS3871 turbo http://www.isrperformance.com/isr-perfo ... r-sr20det/. It is a journal bearing clone of the GT2871R. I am thinking of using two of these on my Z.

Looks like a Chinese turbo, I wouldn't especially since swapping turbos on the Z32 required pulling the engine or the heads.

You're kidding, right?
You couldn't pay me to take on anything Chinese due to their lack technical expertise with tolerances and QC.
If you want turbos (or, really anything else Chinese-made) that do not match the quality or performance of anything else and are willing to perhaps swap them 2-3 times due to failures and tolerance/fitment issues over a short period of time, carry on!
I think the best path for several reasons lies with using products from quality suppliers that is specifically engineered and made for the Z32, rather than crappy knock-off cut-rate copies of those products made by people who don't know/understand the product or the end use.

Oh don't get me wrong, if a turbo swap didn't require 20+ hours of hard labor I'd have probably toyed with these back when I was in college, but since it does require SOOO MUCH WORK I would stay away, far far away.

Been running this turbo for 12 months. 550 injectors, FMIC, 3” turbo back exhaust, SR20DET, tuned with Microtech. Pretty safe tune 200rwkw at 15lbs. Absolutely love it. Comes on around 3000RPM and goes all the way to red line. In hindsight I should’ve gone for bigger injectors because there’s a lot more power available. I bought the turbo and all the lines from Enjuku Racing, upgrading from the stock T25 took some fiddling for the install but mostly pretty straight forward.
Would recommend for sure. Well made and a great upgrade.
