Hola amigos. I've had an ISIS short shifter on my car for a while now, but recently a buddy of mine gave me his B&M short shifter. I figured it was the perfect time to compare the two, so I made a comparison video. I take them both apart and show you whats inside of each one so you can make an educated decision when buying these things. Sorry in advance about the video quality, I think the good ol' cybershot is dying slowly.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys!

uhh, theres really no "cliffs notes" B&M is obviously better but its more expensive. Just watch the video if you want to know why, its too much to type, easier to see.

You pay for what you get. For me ISIS is junk. i dont like some of there products and have seen them fail on friends cars especially GT28r turbos.

Anyways its better to support Greg and BRM! lol Great vid. not gunna lie i skipped through to make the vid about 2 minutes long haha

Right now I have the B&M on there so I could test the difference. Honestly in feel they aren't too different. They're different when it comes to the rattling. For you the ISIS was probably a good choice since it was cheaper. Don't worry, theres nothing super significant that your missing out on.

Think of it like an Ebay steering wheel vs. a MOMO or Nardi or something. They both do their job, but the nardi isn't going to fade, it looks better, and its built better. But you could use an Ebay steering wheel all day long if you wanted to.

My friend is getting a whole new shell so he might want his B&M back :rotfl

It depends on what you get I think. They're good with simple stuff. They're exhausts hold up, the short shifter still works, it hasn't broken or anything. When you get to more complicated mechanics is where I wouldn't trust them. Coilovers, turbos, etc, I probably wouldn't get from them.

DUDE YOUR FRIGGEN HIGH AS HELL!... If you think the isis is junk! I have the isis now... and its not top dog, there are some slight problems with it... but its not junk! It may have a slight movement, and it may have the viberating noise at high rpms, but overall its a good shifter!

So aside from the guide sleeves, crappy paint coating and the fact that it comes WITH the boot there really is no difference. I have the ISIS shifter, I made custom mounts to replace the screws that the springs ride on and I stripped the paint off so that it's just bare aluminum and I installed a Circuit Sports Brass bushing on to mine, voila great shifter at half the price. On a side note your car already comes with the boot that you take off the old one and slide on to the new one, mine is held on by a big a** zip tie.... Done and Done.

hi Krash,

Firstly, I just wanted to thank you for your videos on YouTube.
Second, I know this is an old thread but I wanted to ask you if you know what version of the Isis short shifter you have?
do you mind emailing your response to [email protected]?

Greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Hey man, I'll go ahead and post in this thread so it can come up in searches. The shifter I bought is the ISIS V2.

Very good info, but...

Weight is important, been nice if you weighed both of them. Also, it is kinda a big deal that the Isis mount plate paint flakes because those flakes are ending up in your transmission. The B&M trans plate is anodized where the Isis is probably powder coated.

You basically get what you pay for, and you made that very clear with your review.

Great job !

Thanks man! The weight of both parts are virtually identical, any weight differences wouldn't make a difference in shifting. The ISIS mounting plate is spraypainted (powdercoat would be awesome). I'm glad you brought that up though because if you buy an ISIS shifter its probably a good idea to strip the paint off or get it powdercoated or something.
