In the paperwork I had to sign was one where the saleman was supposed to go over various items. One was to explain that the front license plate holder could be added after delivery. In our state, a front license plate is not required, yet the holder (and the dealer advertising plate) had been added.

The first thing I did when I got it home was to remove the plate and holder. It left holes in the plastic bumper, but since mine is white, a couple of 1/2" circles from a white bumper sticker covers and hides them nicely.

So, did your dealer offer you this "option" or go ahead and deface your bumper? (At least mine has no dealer advertising on the back - whether sticker or metal plate.)

Nope. the front tag kit was included but not mounted on our car. We are not required to have a front tag either.

A plate on the front is not reguired in PA. The kit was in the car but not mounted. When I looked at the car I told the dealer I did not want it mounted. This dealer does not put ad plates on the cars it sells. It does put a dealer logo under VERSA in the rear of the car.

My Versa came from a Bama dealer and was swapped to a dealership in Fla. where I bought it. We don't have a front plate in Fla. but I have a bracket with two holes in the bumper. Two white plastic plugs would help a lot in attempting to restore the original appearance. My solution was to slap an Aussie flag plate on the bracket.

TN doesn't require a front plate. The bracket was in the back floor of my car - - - I had to ask what it was !

I did have mine mounted because I have a front plate that's been on my last 2 vehicles.

In Illinois the Front License Plate is required - so the dealer already had the plate holder installed. While they had the dealer adv. license plate frames on the car intially, I had them removed when they swapped my license plates to the Versa. My dealer does not deface the vehicle by putting a dealer ad sticker directly onto the car - so my Versa is "dealer ad free". As I've paid for personalized plates, I don't mind having the front license plate on the car (but I will admit that the front of the Versa looks really clean without a plate).

Front plates are required in WA, in a "clearly visible" location (kids like to put their HonDuh's plate in the front window, lying on the dash, and wonder why they get pulled over).

No dealer decal on the body, just dealer license frames. I haven't bothered to swap them out, but may just have to as both were destroyed in the accident.

Mine not only wasn't installed, it wasn't even included! The salesman found one in another V and swiped it for me. Then i founf mine under the seat a week later. I felt kinda stoopid and returned on to the dealer. I have no intentions of ever punching holes in my bumper to add a huge black plastic thingly to my beautiful slick white (bug-encrusted) bumper!

My car is a Bucktooth Versa. Its the law to have front plates in the Colorado. I would take mine off if I didn't work for the Patrol. Its PC to stop a car if it doesn't have a front plate.

Here in Texas it's the law to have a front mounted license plate. But I'm not one for laws...lol. I think the front plate is useless, but the state thinks it will be a magic piece that will solve all crime. Really, if a speeding car is coming towards you, are you really worried about remembering the plate number? Plus down here cops aren't worried about enforcing the license plate law. They even said so on the news . Most dealers down here will mount the holder in the front and place their ad in it. I remember a while ago I saw these plastic license plate fillers you could pop in to fill the holes. You could get them in the basic colors (black, white, silver, etc) or you could get a blank one and paint it yourself.

We have another reason for ours. People here tend to back into angle-in parking spaces (which, if done on public land, is actually illegal... but not on private land).

The cops use a voice-activated system to run plates looking for stolen cars. Without front plates, they wouldn't be able to run the plates from in their car.

they tend to cruise park and rides and malls, and actually have a disturbingly high rate of theft recovery in our county.

Plus, my city is super-evil and uses bait cars. All Hondas.

But again I digress.
