I noticed during the winter that my versa will make a noticeable noise (or say, rhythmic clicking sound from under the hood) when the car is on, warm and idle. I took it to the dealership and asked that question. By then they told me it's normal for versa in the winter.

However, now it's summer and I still can hear that sound and I suspect that is getting louder, maybe I am paranoid. So I am wondering, are your guys versa still as quiet as before (when you sitting in the car)? I remember when I first got it more than a year ago, it was so quiet that I even forgot it was on.

Think its pretty common. The valve ticking is common in most Nissan engines and that's mostly what has been reported.

Nearly three years on mine. I hear the valve noise a bit when the engine's cold during the winter, but during the summer it's still as quiet as when new.

I can hear a clear valve-lifting clunk every day the first time I start the car as many other guys mentioned. But after that there are some other noise which I am concerned.

This afternoon when I started the car I heard a real loud grind . . . I'd already started it! 52,000 km and still quiet enough that I forget its running sometimes!

Mine's still really quiet as well. 1 year old, 23000 kms ... I often do not think that it is running. And I went out to lunch yesterday with a couple coworkers, and they both thought that my car smelt new still I was so excited because I do not think it smells new anymore ... unless I am just used to it by now ! I was very happy

Two years, over 25,000 miles. Still as quiet as new, even at freeway speeds.

I have did this quite a few times when I first bought it. I was getting gas like a couple days after I bought it and I actually forgot to turn the car off. So when they told me I was good to go I got a big old GRIND!!

Mine's a little ticky when I first start it but what econo 4 cylinder isn't? Once it's been running through, you hardly notice it idling with the A/C off. It gets a little louder with the A/C on. It's really quiet to me considering the grunty sounding stock engine and exhaust my Neon had. I can't hear the exhaust on my Versa even at 70 mph. Just wind and road noise which is also hardly anything compared to the loudness of driving a Neon.
