boy~ oh, boy~ it has been in the 90s for 3 days in NY. Somehow I feel like my AC isn't as cold as it should be. My friend's Toyota's AC is like freezing cold...

anyone else think their AC is not cold enough? is this common for all Nissan's? or is the weather just too dam hot...

I thought mine was average at best, and I wondered myself if this was the peak of its design capacity for cooling. I turned it to "Max AC" and this doesn't seem to do anything except turn the "recirculate" function on, which is really weird if that's all it does. Does anyone notice a big difference between AC and MaxAC?

I'm better than good. My kid whom is always hot keeps turning it down and we have had 3-96 degree days here in NOVA. Speaking of which, I was surprised to find out I can leave my Rogue running and lock the door with the IntelliKey. So for quick runs into a store or whatever that's keeps the car cool. I figure it will be a great feature for warming it up in the winter as it is an out door SUV.FYI: If you have a sunroof keep the cover closed! That will def help. Also, if your car is outside all day in 90 degree heat it will consistently heat to 130 on the inside and you have to cool not just the air but the car also, as the heat will radiate off everything.

Get one of those silver color windshield thingy that blocks and reflect sunlight away from your vehicle. It makes a ton of difference and is so cheap and light. There are other gadgets you can buy. For e.g. a solar powered fan that hooks up to your window and turns on automatically when it senses a certain temperature and blows out hot air away from the interior of your vehicle.Tinted windows helps too.

Speaking of tint. I had tint put in my 96 Max that was solar reflective for the sunroof. You could feel no heat coming through. I forget what they call it but its industrial like they use on the glass buildings. I think I'll get that for the Rogue.

That's all "Max A/C" is with any car manufacturer.

Having said that, my experience with this car is that I need to kick the fan up a few notches to get the A/C where I want it to be (beyond where you'd have it for vent air). I'm not sure if that's because of the A/C quality or because the interior of the car itself just tends to be hotter than the average vehicle. It seems to stay hotter than my last car, and I'm came from a New Beetle, which is a freaking greenhouse.

I have noticed for the past three days my AC will intermittently blow warm air. It has done it on reg. AC with recirculate on and off and it has done it on MAX AC.

It has temporarily blown warm air on the hwy and in city driving.

Temps for the past three days have been 90+.

My first oil change is coming up, I'll have it checked then.

The past few days have been rather warm here in Maine as well. I've noticed that my Rogue A/C is no where near as cold as my Explorer was (it blew icicles), it does seem to cool the car eventually.

One little known feature with most Nissan's is the AC cut under acceleration. On moderate to heavy acceleration, the A/C will turn off to provide more engine power. The A/C will turn back on once you ease off.

Also, the system monitors refrigerant pressure and A/C discharge air temperature. If the refrigerant pressure is too high, too low, or the discharge air approaches 35 degF, the A/C will also be shut off. These are safety mechanisms to prevent damage to the A/C compressor and/or icing of the evaporator coil.

A few things to point out:

- Run the fan at a moderate to high speed. Too low a speed will cause the discharge air to drop to 35F and cycle the compressor off.- The Rogue has an in-cabin microfilter. If it is clogged, it will reduce airflow and cause similar issues. The filter is not the easiest to get to as it's up under the dash near the accelerator pedal.- If the refrigerant charge is low due to a leak, it will also cause low discharge air temperatures and may trip the low pressure switch.

RogueSeeker, I would definitely have your A/C checked as the symptoms you describe are not normal.

Been in the 100s past week or so in Austin, maybe in the 90s for as much as a month. The AC is about as good as its gonna get for a 4Cyl. It really helps to be moving, sitting at a light the system cannot cool itself off. All in all its good. Tint helps - and I have a wicked black as well (maybe i cam crazy?).

Just went through the first heat wave in NYC/NJ one day hit 101. No complaints with my AC, only ran it on LOW. Make sure you are recycling the inside air and dont have the ouside air coming in

NYer here too, it works just fine. Close the sunroof cover, good to go. Steering wheel got a bit hot...but ran AC on max for 10 mins, then had to turn it down, I was getting chills from being sweaty, then frozen by the AC.

If you have had your Rogue parked with no shielding, heat comes off the dash over the smooth surface over the speedometer. It acts like a furnace and blows warm air at you, esp. on black interior.

This is a follow-up to my 6/11 post. On 6/13 my AC went out completely. I took it in for service this morning and there was a small leak in the radiator. The rep said that since I was losing coolant the car shut off the AC to keep the car from overheating. New radiator is on the way!

I've had my car since the end of Sept & I really haven't had the need to turn up the AC all the way yet, but there was one day when I turned it up quite a bit & it didn't seem that cold for a new car & all.

I hope that when summer comes, it's freezing like I like it!

2009 Indigo Blue, can you please stop using bold lettering in your posts. It's an forum etiquette thingy... using all bold or UPPERCASE lettering implies you are yelling.

I have your post above and removed the bold tags.

Yes, I realize that bold type means yelling, but I wasn't doing it for that purpose. If this board gave us the options to have different fonts, colors, & sizes, I wouldn't use bold. I'm just trying to be unique. You should see my other posts on other boards. I use different colors in a slightly larger size than the usual.

I bought my Rogue in August and I live in Fort Worth, TX where it hits 100 almost every day and my car would be an ice box 5 min after I started it. I have tinted windows but I also have a black interior so they probably counteract each other.

It is not just your tinted windows but its also your silver car. Dark colors gets warmer than light ones. The black interior should actually increase the temperature but since you have tinted windows it blocks the UV. In my opinion the ac in this car works great especially when you go to the highway since the wind helps to cool down the car.

I have a 2009 Rogue. Compressor replaced couple of years ago. Recently topped up the ac with r134a. It blows nice and cold below 50mph. Above, it starts to blow warm air. I assume the compressor is cycling off. Any thoughts on how to test further or what could be the problem? Thanks!

She says the AC is weak compared to previous cars we've owned -- Fords and Mazdas.

I just had mine in the shop for the 3rd time for A/C, 2nd time this year. Of course, it works fine while there, cooling at 42 degrees.
I have had multiple instances of it blowing very warm air for extended periods of time, no matter the setting. Tech is as perplexed as me but I will continue to monitor and note the settings next time to see if it may be sensor related in Auto mode or component related.

@Divotman, what diagnostics did they do? I had a similar issue after refilling the r134a from a can. The can would force air into the system, causing the compressor to switch off periodically. After bleeding the air, the ac blows cold consistently below 50mph. Maybe I need to bleed more air, but hard to duplicate the issue without speed. Might have to spring for an evac and refill.

Anyone know the low pressure spec for the Rogue? I've read 30-35psi, but some sources say 45. Not sure what nissan recommends.
