One little known feature with most Nissan's is the AC cut under acceleration. On moderate to heavy acceleration, the A/C will turn off to provide more engine power. The A/C will turn back on once you ease off.
Also, the system monitors refrigerant pressure and A/C discharge air temperature. If the refrigerant pressure is too high, too low, or the discharge air approaches 35 degF, the A/C will also be shut off. These are safety mechanisms to prevent damage to the A/C compressor and/or icing of the evaporator coil.
A few things to point out:
- Run the fan at a moderate to high speed. Too low a speed will cause the discharge air to drop to 35F and cycle the compressor off.- The Rogue has an in-cabin microfilter. If it is clogged, it will reduce airflow and cause similar issues. The filter is not the easiest to get to as it's up under the dash near the accelerator pedal.- If the refrigerant charge is low due to a leak, it will also cause low discharge air temperatures and may trip the low pressure switch.
RogueSeeker, I would definitely have your A/C checked as the symptoms you describe are not normal.
