In my little browsing on here, I haven't noticed the name. I had a friend get his VG30DETT from Osaka Motors out of NYC, and everything was great working with them. I planned on getting my SR from them as well. I've also noticed them on this forum, so I'm guessing they're a very reliable, well liked, and respected place for JDM motors.

From what I've seen, you can be extremely lucky when ordering from Osaka, or they will scam the hell out of you. I was attracted to their $950 CA18DET, so I called to get more information. I asked if I ordered, could they send me pictures of MY motor. The guy was very adamant on the fact that what I seen on the site, would be what I got. Call them, and they will tell you the same thing. I wouldn't trust a company thats not even willing to take a couple of pictures. Your best bet with this company, is to head to Canada, and pick out your motor yourself.

Heavy Throttle or Enjuku. Quality is worth your hard earned money.

Wait...Heavy Throttle says $1950 for "SR20DET Engine Swap Install Package Builder." Then there's the choice for the engine package plus $2950. WTH is that?

After hearing about Osaka's SR20s, I'm all sketchy about em now...

Could be luck of the draw but my RB came from Jazz-pro and it was in excellent shape.

I would check out one of our vendors on the site. That's what we are here for... great service, pricing and hand picked from Greg himself!

Modified mag ordered their sr from Jazz pro parts saying they were highly recommended and called them a "competent and reputable importer"

yes...but im pretty sure Jazz would be at their "best" behaviour for a magazine such as that.

Well shoot - If I was out to make big money and I had a magazine ask me for an engine - I'd send one my best. . .And thats all Mod Mag would know, is that THEY got a good engine. . .

Thats why I don't like to read sponsor car's specs - its just like reading specs on factory dirtbikes - some of the stuff on them, us being the customers, will never get to lay our hands on them.

From what I've read about Jazz, they are a decent company. But like most all shipped engines, you take the risk of MAYBE getting a dud. . .

I totally agree. But my $.02 was that Jazz was highly recommended. To the OP, you'll be fine as long you do your research.

What everyone needs to realize is that every company is luck of the draw. These motors have sat around for so long and if you believe that it only has 30-50K miles on them your crazy. Those are all gone!! I got a motor from JDM addiction and had to replace the bearing and rebuild. I would say Heavy Throttle and so would most people, but when you get your motor you should rebuild it anyway.

Were the issues resolved on their part, or did they leave you to fix them on your own?

they said they would help with my replacing my ca turbo with an sr turbo but it never went through. my friends motors issues were things i dont htink they could have replaced. like the cas was broken but it wasnt like busted outside it had just fused to the inside of the slot it slides into and he had a broken exhaust manifold stud. They did send his motor without coil pack plugs but they snet him those and my motor came with a busted cas but they sent a new one with trhe motor so it wasnt all bad

I got my motor from Jazz and it was great..i even got a nismo clutch which was barely used, a Tomei short shifter which is a hard find and is extremely expensive..plus about a month later i got a free SR20DET wiring harness from them for no reason..so lets see..motor set 1950 shipped...clutch,450,shifter,350, wiring harness 350...so i got about 1100 in extra parts alone..hey im not complaining...

"Osaka is not a good place my motor came from them and spun a bearing in less than 500 miles pluse they do not ship you the right parts or ship you everything they say....ive heard many bad stories about them"----U really cant blame osaka for that...these are used PERFORMANCE engines..these arent coming out of a ford escort which some old lady drove to get her SS checks with...this is your fault for not checking rod and main bearings as well as piston rings before dropping it into the bay...

Perfectly stated...you are a fool if u think u can just buy a used engine, drop it in and feel safe driving it..these motors are mostly out of cars which were made from early 90's and on...my motor had a bad rod bearing and a few valve guides...and thats not the companies fault..thats just parts which will go eventually on ANY engine.. I highly recommend rebuilding any performance motor before doing a swap.

I bought a s13 blacktop from osaka and its perfect. runs super strong. I also purchased a s14 sr, which i will startup this week. So far they have been good. I got no s14 harness with mine. But they sent me a gtir turbo instead which was a fair trade.
