In my little browsing on here, I haven't noticed the name. I had a friend get his VG30DETT from Osaka Motors out of NYC, and everything was great working with them. I planned on getting my SR from them as well. I've also noticed them on this forum, so I'm guessing they're a very reliable, well liked, and respected place for JDM motors.95s-14 wrote:I'm tryin to find out all I can about them from people who've used them so please help me out I wanna make sure i get my SR from a good place. Thanks
From what I've seen, you can be extremely lucky when ordering from Osaka, or they will scam the hell out of you. I was attracted to their $950 CA18DET, so I called to get more information. I asked if I ordered, could they send me pictures of MY motor. The guy was very adamant on the fact that what I seen on the site, would be what I got. Call them, and they will tell you the same thing. I wouldn't trust a company thats not even willing to take a couple of pictures. Your best bet with this company, is to head to Canada, and pick out your motor yourself.fast_s13 wrote:Osaka is not a good place my motor came from them and spun a bearing in less than 500 miles pluse they do not ship you the right parts or ship you everything they say....ive heard many bad stories about them
Wait...Heavy Throttle says $1950 for "SR20DET Engine Swap Install Package Builder." Then there's the choice for the engine package plus $2950. WTH is that?Captain_Ron80 wrote:Heavy Throttle or Enjuku. Quality is worth your hard earned money.
yes...but im pretty sure Jazz would be at their "best" behaviour for a magazine such as that.j6250 wrote:Modified mag ordered their sr from Jazz pro parts saying they were highly recommended and called them a "competent and reputable importer"
Well shoot - If I was out to make big money and I had a magazine ask me for an engine - I'd send one my best. . .And thats all Mod Mag would know, is that THEY got a good engine. . .j6250 wrote:What?!?
Perfectly stated...you are a fool if u think u can just buy a used engine, drop it in and feel safe driving it..these motors are mostly out of cars which were made from early 90's and on...my motor had a bad rod bearing and a few valve guides...and thats not the companies fault..thats just parts which will go eventually on ANY engine.. I highly recommend rebuilding any performance motor before doing a swap.schanne wrote:What everyone needs to realize is that every company is luck of the draw. These motors have sat around for so long and if you believe that it only has 30-50K miles on them your crazy. Those are all gone!! I got a motor from JDM addiction and had to replace the bearing and rebuild. I would say Heavy Throttle and so would most people, but when you get your motor you should rebuild it anyway.
