if you want a stick, then sure why not. im personally waiting for agood deal if one comes across, if not itll get switched over when i swap my rb into my car anyways. i got most of the parts from random junkyards relatively cheap, also ive seen parts go on ebay and such. so its really up to whether or not your willing to settle with an auto-Paul

The auto - manual swap was the best $1100 I have spent on my car until this day. It made it feel like a completely different car. Before I just got in, put it in drive and went...but the swap made driving fun.

I just got mine done last week and Its AMAZING! Its more fun to drive than I have had in a long time. Its practically a new car. I got my suspension done at the same time but really changing gears really makes the car alot of fun to drive around town and JESUS it flies through 1st gear with the lightened flywheel they put in.I barely get a chance b4 I have to change into 2ndIts worth it man, have fun with it!

This topic is ironical as the car buying guide says the market value is about $200 higher for an automatic.

Your best bet in the way i see is to do cadet or sr20swap at the same i seem to think that overtime it will pay off over time BUT if u have a ka24de and u can just turbocharge it and save alot of money but wont be the same quality go to http://www.venus auto.com/inventory/nissan/engine/nissan.htm they have pretty good pricing on front clips which makes it easier for the swap

i also hear that the 5 speed is a second quicker in the 0-60, thats pretty dramatic.

Well think of it this way. If you're tight on cash, do other things with your money. If you got money but your transmission still works well, I'd go with the auto and save up for something like an engine swap or another engine to build up on the side. If your car still works well, don't start messin it up and introducing other possible problems to your car. Save the cash and do something more dramatic with it instead. Like dunno go on vacation to Europe or get an engine swap or throw a bachelor party for yourself with like a dozen hookers at once (not that I condone such an act but just saying). If your car's still relatively stock, what's really the point in the end? Yeah you can go change gears and stuff possibly shave a some time from going 0 to 60, but for the cost of the parts, if you plan on swapping engines later, risk of introducing other problems to your car...I'd hold off till you've got a clear map of what you're shooting for.

I've got an automatic S13 and it is shifting sort of hard from 1--->2.

Every auto S-chassis I've ever driven does this, so it's nothing new, but I still worry about my transmission.

My engine is in great condition though, 130k, runs fantastic, so I'm not 100% on the idea of swapping it out, I'd rather just wait until it dies.

So I suppose the question is whether I'd want to swap in a 5-speed as a preventative measure rather than just waiting for my automatic to die on me.

I've also been debating on whether or not to flush the auto and try and save it, I never reached a consensus on that, but I can't have it die right now, and I know flushing can be dangerous, so I'm not really inclined to do it until I can afford to have the car be down for the count for awhile.
