I have been using Chevron techron with great results. I use it about every other fill up. Is this to much? Can this cause any problems?

Not really [at least for mild Techron] however stronger concentrates like BG44K should be limited to once per oil change [every 90 days 3,750 miles].

Detergent cleaners are mild, it is the solvent types that may cause problems with fuel hoses.

I would try BG44k and see if the better cleaning does yield better cost effectiveness. Techron every 2 tanks vs BG every 10.

Really depends on the gasoline run that day and whether you drive in a manner to clean the system.

I do use the BG about every 6 months. The stuff works great. I use the techron as a preventive mainteneance thing.

Let me ask you this, does it help? or am I just wasting my money using it that often?

Easy to see with powe balance testing whether it helps or not, but guess I am the only one that does these Consult test on a monthly [or every other] basis because I have easy access.

Always looking for something to fix or clean, my car is my hobby.

By the way, where can I get BK44 for less? I try infinitipartsusa website and couldn't find that. Perhaps I should call them.

Thanks

$15 per can by the case or less.

I'm surprised they are offering at $355 per case shipped = $14.80 per can since the service writer [service manager- some body at dealership get $1 cash per can sold and the tech gets 25 cents per orange internal tab turned in to rep]...........the BG secret marketing method.

As you can see the 25cents is not enough for tech to push the product but the $1 means the service gets pushed by somebody.

Think we pay around $11 per can based on our volume usage we charge $15....such a deal. Compared to Techron at $7 [?].

Scottsdale Infiniti, won't ship it anymore, so u can only buy it if you're picking it up. It's been deemed hazardous materials. I found some this weekend for $14 per, at a Lincoln dealership (cheaper than ebay or scottsdale)

Dealerships around here don't have it and the one that does doesn't sell it by the can but uses it when they do a fuel rail flush and fuel system cleanings. That sucks Scottsdale can't ship it anymore!!!! I always got a can when I ordered something from them.

Too many fuel additives can cause problems with your oxygen sensors and your cat converters! The bottle will say O2 Sensor and converter safe but, this is only at regularly scheduled intervals. Plus like tech. said it will soften fuel lines unless you have replaced in and out and return lines and fuel by-pass hoses. Stick with oil change as time for additive. ZLBG110=ADVANCED FORMULA MOA=$9.56 ZLBG310=ATF CONDITIONER= $8.76 ZLBG44K=10.67 These are the prices I pay for singles of these items!

What O2 and cats don't like is any additive that contains a metal like lead, zinc, manganese [the additive in most over the counter octane boosters].......it poisons the metal matrix in these devices.

The detergent in BG44K actually cleans the cats of some portion of these metals eventually, don't expect miracles if you use octane booster too much.

Exactly! The BG44K will help clean 02 sensors but, cats do their job by collecting the pollutants from the O2 sensor cleaning. That's why if you purchase vehicle used you always recommend having fuel, trans, coolant, motor, and rear differential systems flushed because you might think you know the cars history but, you don't! That's why you should stick with the 3 month or 3000 mile additive schedule. If you purchase your vehicle new and stick with your pre-set plan you will save on costly repair cost in the long run! When you buy your vehicle used flush and replace fluids with good quality fluids and additives immediately: Dealers most always use Castrol products. 5w-30 oil Dext-III Trans./ Matic D 80w-90 diff. fluid If you start pumping a lot of off brands in your used vehicle they may damage certain components! Valvoline, Lucas, Mobil 1, Lube guard, are a few that people have had very good results with.

As you know everyone doesn't get the same price just because you buy from the same source! Some people have business accounts and some just get the hook-up! http://www.rosenthalnissanmazda.com
