Looks like im SOL, cheapest I can find front left AWD strut is $250 unless i want TCS but thats $80 and you get what you paid for compared to the oem KYB strut. Was hoping to get a new strut for $180-220 but Im not seeing it that low.
Don't understand the problem. Just reuse the existing spring and mount.
This. The spring is a lifetime part unless you did something to it like heat it or cut it. All you need is the long strut, which is available.Yoda's Master wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2026 3:14 pmDon't understand the problem. Just reuse the existing spring and mount.
This is actually pretty great hah.Yoda's Master wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2026 10:36 pmYou don't need spring compressor, just a jack and jack stand. Remove the center nut while your car is still sitting on the ground and slowly lift the front, remove the wheels and remove the dead shock. Replace the shock and use a jack to lift up the lower control arm while guiding the shock into the mount. Put on the center nut and turn it enough to hold the shock in place, put your wheel back on, drop the front end and tighten the center nut with the car sitting on all four tires. You don't even need to remove the mount from the car.

The complaint with most of the eBay shocks and struts I've seen isn't that they wear out, it's that they're made very, very stiff so they don't wear out. Don't be surprised if they wear fine but affect your dental work.
LOL - I have the M56S with the 20" wheels so I went up in tire size by 1" to give it a smoother ride. This might help with the stiff suspension. I'll let everyone know how it goes.VStar650CL wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2026 6:39 ammadmanpauly wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2026 5:47 amI've been thinking along the lines of replacing them with these.
