Is this suppose to be loose like this??

I was in the process of rebuilding my ka and its a dowel pin that goes between the timing chain, right above the crank gear. Ill post pics up later but its like, its not staying in straight but its hanging out as if it was about to fall out. I already have the front cover on it but just curious. I don't want it fall out and get stuck on the crank gear. :ohno:

See in the middle thats what I'm talking about. Is it supposed to be like that?? Is it really need?? I know it looks like that its going to touch the front cover but its not. It just looks like that cause i took the pic from above.
