Well I rebuilt my KA a while ago, ans went with all forged internals. I bought the JGS turbo kit with the 50 trim t3/t4 turbo. I found some SR 370cc injectors for cheap, and picked them up. I also have a z32 maf. I hooked up everything I need for boost after breaking in the engine, but I am still not turbo'd yet for one reason. That reason is that im afraid that the injectors are too small for the size of the turbo. The only thing I have to tune the car is an Apexi SAFC neo, and I have an aem wideband and tru boost controller. Another thing that concerns me is that its still the stock ecu. So this question is towards the experienced ka-ters. Do you guys think it'll be safe to run 4 or 5 psi with that turbo with SR 370cc injectors and a z32 maf, being only tuned from the safc neo? Because i'm not looking forward to blowing it up after spending a good amount of money on it.

If you spent that much money on your engine, why would you cheap out on the most important part?

Get bigger injectors and a ROM tune before you boost it. Use the SAFC for minor adjustments. You might be fine with 4-5 psi and those injectors, but it's the lack of tuning that I'd be worrying about. Heck, I'd rather run an FMU and stock injectors than try to tune for 370's with an SAFC.

550s and a enthalpy tune.

why risk it with the money you put in the motor

Those 2 things are what im currently saving for right now. I just wanna boost it, but ide rather wait and play it safe, than be a dumb*** and blow it up.

Good. If you want a tune for cheaper look into EFI Specialist. Their tunes run 305 dollars. Mine runs perfectly fine, I highly recommend it.

Yeah, you'll need 550cc injectors if you are running more than 5psi or so. I'd get something in the 740cc range if you want to utilize the full potential of that turbo, since the 550's will only be safe to around 300whp. The problem with the stock ECU + SAFC setup is the lack of timing control. With a boosted engine, as pressure increases, you need to start retarding ignition timing. Another alternative to the enthalpy ECU is Nistune, which is what I am running. It's in the same price range, and you will have fully adjustable fuel and timing maps. You will also be able to make changes to your setup and not have to send your ECU in for a reflash, you can just make the adjustments yourself.
