i bought this 1989 240 coupe with an sr20det, the problem is that it has a high mount turbo set up 2-3 inchs away from the brake booster. is this going to effect my braking a lot? what should i do?

If it is close enough that you are concerned about it I would buy a turbo blanket and a brake reservoir heat shield and be done with it.

^Yup.
My turbo is actually super close to my master cylinder. I ran without a hood for a long time because I was a bit worried about it. Now I have a vented hood. I hooked up a thermocouple and never saw temps above 170 at the master (most of the time they were about 125) during driving/sitting in traffic.

If you have a broken manifold, then you can melt teh MC resevoir, but unless you're running some wicked setup, you'll be fine.
