How much dosh have you got? Looks like it's been in snow country : ie lots of salt. By the looks of it it's been driven like that for a while. It's very probable that th rust isn't just localized to that on spot it would be a very good idea to check the entire subframe on that side because once it's had water and or salt in one part it finds it's way backward and forward weakening the entire structure. As to repairable if you can find a donor car to cut out a good subframe for that side and graft on to that one then it's doable. But!! I doubt you would have chage for a grand and a half. if you have mates with the skills to drill out the spotwelds then cut the bad metal off then get someone with mig/tig experience to weld on new subframe member. Otherwise look for something else.

hard to find one without any rust in that area. Check out the exhaust beside the frame. I have seen lots of 240 rust in the same area. Good luck finding a replacement part. That area is critical. Mine, rusted the whole frame all the way to the shock tower support. I had the whole thing welded for 700 buck about a 4 years ago. I now have my own welding mig welder.

my 240sx super hicas, ka24de, was rusted in the same spot on the left rail just not as bad , if you pull your interior and check the floor pans/trunk they will probably look like mine, pix here -> [IMG] http://www.autoaddictions.netf....html - i got an estimate from resto shop to patch the floors, trunk, rails and inner fender liners/towers, approximate cost 700.00 to 1000.00 max, if you know how to weld, DIY !!, it would cost you roughly 200.00 in material, sheet metal, brazing torch and brazing rod. although in my case i was planning to do it myself, but dont have the facility to do so, so i sent her to a prefered body shop to get the floors, trunk, rails, body/paint completed all in one shot, should get her back in about 2 weeks.

correct me if i'm wrong but isn't that part of the chassis? and from what i know you can't use sheet metal for that, and the welds must be really good, unless you want to start twisting the car. well, your question was, is it repairable. the answer is yes. but at what cost? is it worth it?

if it's rusted that much, chances are there are more spots like that in the car that you can't see.

my 2 cents, not worth it.

ive fixed 2 240sx frames in my life and this one is weird. looks likes its been patched before..... but it the car isnt warped yet do it. approx cost... $1000.00 after taxes...get an allienment and only get the place to fix it if there sateying the frame. check the floor for hole aswell. also. a frame that bad. u have about 2 nmonths before it snaps and is unrepAirable. so be fast and smart.... dont drive the car either. flat bed tow.
