Seriously? I could see myself making that mistake. Would it make a noise like that? If so, what exactly is happening that makes that noise? Thanks!DriftX wrote:Your timing belt sounds like it's wayy to tight
Thank you so much. I owe you dinner sometime. While this was not the direct cause for the noise, it did lead me right to it. I loosend the alternator belt, no noise, inspected a little closer and saw the stupid mistake on my part..OlyDriftSquad wrote:i have seen people overtighten water pump belts front overtighten`n the alternator and if you overkill it somtimes the blades on the pump will nick the housing, but check that belt first
I should have made a comment on that. I am using a jumper pack to start the car as the battery is just about dead. The alligator clamp on the positive post shook a bit when the car went to start causing the spark, no worries!gawdzilla wrote:no one else saw those random sparks on startup?
Good man I hate to see a fellow rb`er heave a dead motor.RyanAxiOn419 wrote:

Problem: The water pump pulley was loose, 2 of the 4 nuts on the pulley were almost all the way backed off, the other 2 were only hand tight. I took the pulley off numerous times and guess I just forgot to tighten it the last time. So the noise was either the washers rattling back and forth or the pulley itself moving around. Sounds just fine now that i have tightend it. I feel pretty stupid but its ok, learning experience. Here is a picture:
