im a college student and i have a budget. Is it ok to get some regular all season radials for the fron of your 240 and some nice grippy tires for the rear. I have been told it does not matter in the front cause they just roll and stuff. if i do that will it mess with my handleing or anything?

yes it will mess it up, just get good tires for all 4

if you want to put all seasons on all 4 yes, thatd be ok

if you dont need to worry about all season you could run kuhmo 711's or something

thanks for listening to my other post in 240 general.

in regards to your question, it will throw the handling off very much. having ****ty tires up front will do nothing but promote understeer, a problem a stock 240 already has.

assuming you want to drag race, it will work. thats why you see every fox body running around the drag strip with skinnies up front.

however if you actually want to turn sometimes, id suggest either running the same tires all the way around or putting the all seasons in the back. this takes care of some of the stock understeer, but limits your traction in a sraight line. but if you need to save money, putting them in back would make the most sense in regards to handling. i have experimented with this idea before, and it makes "drifiting" or oversteering on the street much more feasible without going over 60mph. btw i was running yoko parada spec 2's up front with khumo ecsta 711's out back (yes, they suck, but for $50 a pop you cant beat em)

Millions of people's cars turn just fine on their way to college class in their commuter car with all season tires.

Don't sweat it. Put whatever tires on your car that you want.

Understeer is an at-the-limit handling issue. Not too much of a problem while you're driving to school. Keep on making it to class. That would be my only concern if I was in your shoes.

-I guess- but i thought he was actually talking about DRIVING the car. if performance makes no differance, get wanli's or hancook's all the way around.

yeah he was talking about running grippy rear tires

tires these days are really all or nothing, unless theyre drift spares or drag slicks in the rear

if youre getting winter anyway you might as well get summer all around, just make sure youre getting wet/dry summer tires and not just dry summer tires

at least put the grippy tires in the front. understeer is so much worse than oversteer (imho) in the event of traction loss. i prefer the car to go where i point the steering wheel, rahther than the rears sticking and me having no control over the direction.

what are you planing to do, good dayly driver. or i you planing to hit the track and go sideways. this is important for us to know. then we can give you the most info on what it is your trying to acomplish. dayly driver there is nothing wrong with all season's, but i dont advise mixed front's & back's. i dont see why you would wont to do that. your a student on a buget so just buy a full set of somthing in your price range. ps.. front's are important becouse thats how you turn, "driving 101" its the class right doun the hall.
