Read the fuel pump thread in IOM and you will understand.

It could be wearing out if you don't know when it was last replaced.

It's common to bend the float a bit during replacement. We're assuming your pump has been replaced. How many miles on your Q? I would think average life of a Q45 fuel pump is about 80k.

Have you read the FP replacement thread? You qouted Heath, but do you undertand what he said? Not much more we can do. You must do something for yourself.

The float level on the FP is what gives the tank reading information to the gauge. Once you view the pictures in the thread, you can decide if it is worth pulling your pump to adjust the arm if it is excessively bent. Do use a new O ring on reassembly.

Only other factors would be wiring, teminals and you gauge cluster. Highly unlikely as they usually either work or don't.
