Nope. That's terrible. What rpm point were you shifting at?

Hmm....auto or manual? I ran a 15.9 in my sohc S13, with only a few basic mods and good suspension. I would think you would be running a better time than me for sure, but I've never driven an S14. Hopefully somebody can chime in with a little better info for ya!

Few more determining factors, Did you buy the car used? Did you know the previous owner? or the condition of the KA before you bought it?

Before you started putting aftermarket parts on it, what kind of maintenance did you do on it? have you compression tested it yet? How’s the condition of your clutch? (if your a 5speed)

Aside from mechanical problems, it could just be you. What RPM were you launching/shifting at? Did you get many passes? Was it your first time on that track?

There’s a million reasons you could add or lose a second or two when your taking street cars to the track. Just narrow it all down.

Did you have stickers on your car? That's gotta be at least 2 seconds...

I agree with above, adding stuff can be tempting and REAL easy compared to fine combing your setup. Making sure everything is running great first is always less exciting then adding new stuff.

I ran a 16.1, forgot what trap speed was. 95 s14, with only suspension and wheel/tire.

probably coulda gotten a 15.9 if i can launch better.

launched around 3k, tried 3 times. 1 bog, 1 spun slightly

Thats a bad 60' and a low mph. I'd compression test that motor.

I am thinking a compression check is in order as well.

I have a slew of parts on my S14 so I run 15.0-15.1 but I am pretty sure stock 1/4 mile times for an S14 should be around 15.7 or so.

Don't really notice that much difference on the butt dyno but Im sure they are providing better spark than the stock 7mm wires. Plus I wanted red wires and thought that paying over $100 for some Nology or other types was ludacris since I'm not boostin.

same witm me...however i had nologys and the dyno numbers wire less 150.3 than the stock wires for me (151.3)....the nologys are proven not to work....u lose spark in the ground strap

If stock times are 15.7 for S14 and these are your mods and you're only a 15.1 at best...... What am I missing here??

I have run a 14.9 once but I wasn't driving the hardest I could. What your missing is the fact that all those mods only put my car at 168hp and 154 ft lbs at the wheels, not to mention that my Zenki has 167,000+ miles on her. To make that clear NA/KA's suck to make power unless you are boostin.

Also I have no LSD of any kind.

i ran a 15.78 yesterday and i have intake, accell wires, ngk plugs, header, exhaust plus i have 135 on the clock...no lsd a 14.9 is really good all motor for a 240sx...i do not beleive that a stock s14 runs 15.7's (probaly a professional driver cough cough) which we are not...so id say a good driver in a stock s14 could do 15.9-16 ish

I think you're pretty much dead on. I have a 1995 with a curb weight of 2832 (I'd never part with the sunroof). Not an SE, it's a stick. It does have a new clutch, and it's been rebuilt once, with no performance engine parts thrown in. I typically run 16.0's or 16.1's all day with almost NO variability. The fastest I've run was a 15.8 on a nice cool day in October with a great batch of fuel (all of a gallon and a half in the tank and no spare tire). I guess somebody could just have that really responsive ka that happens to randomly make an extra 10hp, but that isn't gonna bring times down much at all. That being said, I took my mother's (shoosh! don't tell on me) 92 coupe to the HS drags once, and while it felt quicker, the times were almost identical accross the board. I imagine with a nice breeze behind your back, you might get a tenth or so quicker:) I think that pretty much all the 240's I've seen out there there were admittedly bone stock pretty much ran low 16's with an occassional high 15.

This is a bit disappointing to me.... I am not bashing you or nothing, don't get me wrong here... But this bites.. What's the car's weight? Could it be these motors don't respond well to upgrades? I am looking into a KA24DE swap as opposed to a JDM route..

Should I re-think my gameplan?

I could have my numbers mixed up. I might be quoting my numbers from before the port and polish. It has been so long. I am not really infatuated with HP/TQ. I quit adding power mods to my car like almost 3 years ago.
naed240sx wrote:Can you post a dyno?
I'll try and find it. The last time I dynoed my Zenki at the end of 2003. I'm sure it's with my other paperwork. I'll post back if I find it or not. I dynoed it at Dynamic Autosport in Irvine, CA.
