I have 2015 q70S 5.6.

So during lunch I left the car running in my driveway and took the keys with me. I was away from the car for about 5 minutes, and when I came back, the engine was off and dash had these lights:

No matter how many times I try to start the car now, it simply wont start, and the same message pops up.

Other notes are the car's radiator fans are running at full speed when its in this mode.

Could this be the steering lock had failed? Or maybe infiniti's anti theft has been activated? Thanks!

The fans running means your ECM is offline. The IPDM will crank up the fans as an emergency response if it can't hear the ECM on the CANbus. Your IPDM is located to the right (passenger side) of the battery, check fuse #51 (you can find the layout here on page PG-120: https://www.nicoclub.com/service-manual ... 5%2Fpg.pdf). If the fuse is good, check for power on IPDM pin 6 with the key on. If that doesn't have power then the ECM Relay in the IPDM is bad, replace the IPDM. If it does have power then chances are your ECM is bad.

Now that you mention the ECM its worth bringing this up. It happened on Sunday night, but basically it was flooding when I driving back from my parents, and a jeep on my right ran over a puddle and and big splash of water went all over my windshield on the passenger side. I drove the car 200+ miles since that incident so I didnt think it may have been the issue, but now I'm worried maybe the fuse box got soaked during that incident?

Also, are the key warning issues related to the potential ecm/ipdm issues you pointed out, or are they mutually exclusive?

To answer your second question first, yes, the ECM participates in the security system so you'll always get a red key light if it goes offline. On cars with your battery/IPDM arrangement it's possible for the whole battery box to fill with water if the drains get blocked, so you should definitely crack the hood and check for signs of drowning. The IPDM connectors aren't weather-tight like the ECM and TCM, so although the IPDM board itself is coated and impervious to water, the connectors and pins aren't.

Quick update, but after working with my friend who is a nissan / infiniti expert we found the ECM fuse to be popped. The information about the fans running at fullspeed when ECM communication is compromised was extremely helpful, thank you!
