So right now i am building my project 240, and instead of being like every one else i am "trying" to build up the ka. And i am either going to leave stock internals and run only like 5-10lbs of boost, and do the head gasket.... or i am just going to do it all the right way the first time. and do forged rods and pistons, do a 20 over bore, and head gasket(duhh), and through a ****s load of boost at it. So my question... my friend was telling my that he heard that it is possible to use ford 3.0L or ford 3.8L pistons its either 3.0L or 3.8L, or you can use the chevy 4.3L pistons. So i was just wondering if this was true. The only reason i would do this is the $$$ situation and i know ford pistons are way cheaper, and the 4.3 pistons are cheap but not as cheap as ford. AND PLEASE NO ONE SAY ANYTHING LIKE "WTF WHY NOT JDM, WHY USDM, DONT GET ANYTHING AMERICAN, GO WITH JDM" of course i would like to but its about the $. So no gay *** responses its just a ****ing question!

Ther are many problems with what you are trying to do. First the chevy 4.3L has a 101mm bore, so it is entirely too big. Yes, the Ford 3.0L has a 3.5"(88.9mm) bore as well as the Subaru 3.0L boxer 6, but you do not know anything about the geometry of these pistons. The wrist pins are almost guaranteed to be a diffent size as well as the distance between the top of the piston and the wrist pin hole. Also, remember that these pistons are coming out of higher compression engines with different head design. If you are really dedicated, you can search and find a piston that will work for your application, but you are still going to have to order a forged version of it to run serious power. Ultimately, I think you will find that the little bit of money you might save will not be worth it in the end. You can buy forged pistons for the KA for around $450. This isn't a bad price.

My bet is that they will physically fit in the engine, but will be completely useless. Stroke length is different, which will change wrist pin height. Different block geometry (I4 Vs V8) will give the pistons a different skirt design (because they are being pushed at a different angle. Compression height on the pistons will be different (taller or shorter) which means you'd need different length rods to keep the same (or increase) the Compression Ratio.

Theres a lot of things that could go wrong. Don't do it. Not because we want you to be all JDM tyte yo!... but because you probably don't have nearly enough technical knowledge to ask the right questions about the pistons. And FYI - forged pistons for the KA are cheaper than buying a good set of forged pistons for a V8, almost hands down because you will be hard pressed to find a place that will sell you 4 of them without a price hike.
