Has anyone seen this, or inquired about it, or even tried it?

Would it do any more than checking the codes on the ECU?

Doesnt that would do any more that reading the ECU codes. Why waste the money when reading the codes is free? :)

Well, like a lot of tools, its value depends on the time it saves you. I'd spend $30 to avoid having to get into my ECU as often as I do, plus it eliminates the risk of a bent ECU pin. With the seller's feedback, I think it's a fair risk. Let us know if you get it Jeff!

Thanks, I ahve asked the seller a few questions.

Hopefully he will respond, and I can get it.

I don't like tearing into a 10 year old dash, too much, either.

I bet I still have to use it on the ECU pins, though.

It might be worth it if all you gotta do is remove that little kick panel, as you can access everything right there.

Jeff, are you going to bid on it? I can see using it on the MAGCQUE. Why won't it work on the 96? I have yet to see any differnce in parts between the 94 and 96. It seems there was a change in the middle of the model year?

Yes, I have bid on it.

I understand, in 1996, the computer control went OBD-II, on the Q45. This would mean your computer is totally different from the '94 to '96.

I learned this, on the NICO board.

Hmmm, I was assuming it would work through the Consult port. If you have to remove the ECU anyway, then it doesn't have much value.

This is what teh seller sent me:

Hi Jeff, this Import Code Reader/Scanner is a two piece kit...the larger part plugs into the engine compartment wiring harness under the hood. The smaller part plugs in under the dash. Diagnostic trouble codes flash on vehicle's dashboard "Check Engine" light or on vehicle computer's LED display...thank you for your interest in our product! [email protected]

Let us know how it works

For 96 and up owners, they cna just get their codes read at the nearest autozone (OBDII has its advantages)

So they both have to be connected at the same time...or one or the other? Sounds like both to me. That's a bummer!

Found one of those in my parent's garage once - the "scan tool" worked on other brands, and then it included a plastic screwdriver and instructions on how to read the codes for Nissan ECUs - no scan tool required. Not sure if this is the same or not...

Good info. I'll ask the seller that question, directly.

I don't see why it wouldn't work

I can actually use an anolog voltage meter (I think, I really can't remember which now...) to find codes for my car. Can't remember where to stick the probes either...

it's what we used to figure out the crazyness of the DIS module, or atleast what was failing. (coil pak #3 for those who care)

bear in mind I also have a Ford. Seems a lot of Japanese companies contract out the same electronics on the cars for the most part (pretty funny looking under the hood of a Honda and seeing a Mitsubishi logo:D)

It is no better, than using a screwdriver. Here's the guy's response:

Hi Jeff, our Import Code Reader/Scanner comes with a users manual complete with code definitions. The smaller part looks a lot like a forked screwdriver, but I'm afraid you will have to count flashes to retrieve trouble codes...thank you again for your interest in our product!

It is a good thing I was outbid.
