is this common?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi All,

Just bought the car and drove about 700 miles. It is 2010 ex35 journey AWD. I have never driven a infiniti before and I feel weird about the two following things.

1. Some time after I stop the car in front of the traffic light. Even after I move my feet away from the brake, the car will stop there and not moving. I am pretty sure the car is not on a slope there is nothing on the road block the car. Only when I press the gas paddle, the car will start to move forward. It doesn't happen every time, just occasionally.

2. When I was on highway, the engine will keep the speed around 2000 RPM. If I just press the gas paddle a little further, it will pretty much keep the same RPM, and if press the paddle further more, it will suddenly jump to 3000 rpm.

Sounds like it downshifted to a lower gear.
Which is normal. :yesnod

I feel this too, sometimes. It's as if the Brakes grab a little more than they should.

Maybe it explains why a Brake-job is needed earlier, on these Cars.

Considering your EX is a 2010, I would assume that it still has a manufacturer's warranty. It would probably be best to take it to the dealer and have them run a full diagnostic on it to find out the specifics. Let us know what you find out!

Sounds like the foot brake might be on a bit. maybe not enough to have the light on but enough to hold it at a stop? shifting seems odd. My 2010 has been perfect! One of the best vehicals we have ever had. I have had 17 new cars in the last 10 years.

Congratulations on the new EX and Welcome to the group.

I am pretty curious what kind of vehicle you came from?

Was it all wheel drive?

I think what you might be feeling during accelerating might be normal.

-Note- This pertains more to the 2010+ with the 7 speed.

The two differences you notice actually have a reason (most likely). They are both designed to decrease the load on the engine in certain instances.

A good test to highlight the new level of computer control is this;
When the car is first started in the morning with your foot OFF of the brake press the button on the shifter and try to engage Drive.
You will notice as you hit the solenoid barrier at the R position the engine already cuts the throttle from warm up mode to R or D mode.

The EX has the ability to learn to a surprising level. Over time if you have a habit of accelerating through the first three of four gears at a certain rate it will adapt and try to predict it to minimize the load.

If you feel that there actually might be a problem, contact the nearest dealer and have it driven by a professional to see what is up.

Chances are you EX has (depending on actual mileage) not really been driven by one consistent driver. Give it a month and see what it is like then.
