What are you trying to get out of them? I remember you mentioning before that you had no intention to race...if that's still the case, I couldn't think of one reason why you would want all that stuff. If it's to stop shorter, get better pads and tires.

So what are you doing with it?

If your only goal is to out-brake a C6, I don't see that happening w/ this...or at all for that matter. You have to remember that car has abs (even if your 240 does as well, it's nowhere near as good of a system) and abs cars tend to always out-brake non-abs cars (by a large margin at that). Not only that but a larger tire contact patch as well. I know our car is lighter, but I seriously doubt that will even out the playing feild.

ABS SUCKS..... I WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE IT THAN HAVE IT AT ALL. I'VE HAD TOO MANY BAD EXPERIENCES WITH ABS, AND I CAN OUT BRAKE MY FRIENDS ABS FITTED PORSCHE WITH MY STOCK BRAKES.

THE BRAKES ISN'T THE ONLY THING I PLAN ON DOING TO ACHEIVE THIS. WEIGHT REDUCTIONS, CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION UPGRADES, TIRE AND WHEEL SIZE CHANGES, ETC. WILL ALSO BE HAPPENING.

YES IF YOU LOOK AT THE FIRST PICTURE THEY ARE DIRECTIONAL VANE ROTORS.... THE REARS ARE GOING TO BE AVAILABLE SOON.THIS WHOLE KIT IS WILWOOD AND THEY USE ALL WILWOOD PRODUCTS SO FINDING REPLACEMENT PARTS AREN'T GOING TO BE DIFFICULT.

awesome. ive been leery about the 300zx brakes because i want a directional vane rotor [cooling properties]. thats an awesome price for a complete system.

*sigh*

You still have yet to answer my question...what do you plan on doing with the car? Because if you're not road racing, to simply answer your question, yes this kit is overkill.

YES, THIS WILL BE A ROAD RACE CAR, I JUST HAVE SPECIFIC CRITERIA I WANT TO MEET OR BEAT. I DON'T CARE FOR DRAG OR DRIFTING..... AND AUTOCROSS IS NICE BUT I WOULD MUCH RATHER GO WHEEL TO WHEEL.

Wilwood's are great brakes. I had a set of them on my two out of my three 510's. There's one thing you should know about them... they are noisy. Sometimes, it will sound like the brake pad is rattling around inside the caliper. It's something weird about the way they are designed. When it comes to stopping your car though... they get 2 thumbs up.

And they have to be rebuilt much more frequently than other calipers...

good lucking on the out braking the c6 a good lighted car with some nice work done to it can do it... youmight also want to look into getting a brake bias thingy(can't rember the exact name)where you can mess with the brake bias soo you can get it dialed in...think willwood has that two

So what are your bad experiences? If your ABS is working properly, it WILL stop your car faster all other conditions equal. Consider these points. A car does not distribute weight perfectly left to right. Nor is it built with a perfect brake bias for every condition. The more traction you have for braking, the more front bias you need as more weight gets transferred there and away from the rears. And if one side is seeing more weight loading then the other, then one side will lock up first. In fact there will always be one tire that locks first before all the others do. This means, if you are threshold braking, you are essentially threshold braking the limit of the first tire that will lock up. The other three tires will still have some potential to help slow the car, but it won't be used. With ABS, when you get to the point of lock-up with the first tire, it will begin it's magic and keep it from locking so you can apply more pressure. Then when the second tire hits the threshold, it activates the ABS in that channel. Now you can use more of the third tire's available traction to help stop the car. So on and so on.

And in a road race/autocross this becomes even more pronounced. You can not only decelerate at a quicker rate meaning you can start braking later, but you can also carry more speed into a corner since the ABS will keep the overloaded tires from locking and be able to use some of the available traction in the tires that are not making full use of it's available traction. And if you know anything about road racing, the braking is very, very important to setting up passing manuevers. Being able to brake better, will allow you to come inside the turn hotter and take the inside path, forcing the person you are passing to take a poor line and allowing you to pass.

You can ditch the ABS if you want, but if you're competition has it, and they knowwhat they are doing with it, then chances are, you'll be finding yourself behind them very fast.
