i have a diff that was supposed to be out of a s15 silvia, it has the 5 bolt axle flanges and locks up completely on acceleration and deceleration it only releases when in neutral or when the clutch is held in, if i make a sharp turn slowly with the diff disengaged it makes a click click click sound, to me it sounds like a two way but its kinda noisy and was just wondering if anyone with experience can comment thanks, by the way we installed it into a s13 240

Two way clutch limited slip differentials lock up on both acceleration and decceleration. However a Helical Limited slip differential will lock up on acceleration and decceleration as well.

Since you say you are hearing a click sound you more than likely have a clutch type differential rather than a helical type. So anyway the only way to tell what differential you have is to take a look at the differential itself.

Okay, let me rephrase myself. Without driving a car with a particular limited slip differential, one of the only ways to figure out what you have is to take the lsd itself apart and look at the pinion and cam gears. If not jack the car up and spin the wheels forward and backward while watching to see if both wheels spin or not.

Its not a helical unless its a broken helical HLSD's don't lock.

sounds from your description a bit like its a 2 way to me
