Ok...so the dimentions for the wheels stock on a Versa are 15 x 5.5

I just bought these

They are 15 x 6.5

I was planning on putting them on the stock tires...

does that mean i have to get new tires?

ThanksRK

?? This may sound like a dumb question, but why would you wanna put the cheap OEM tires on those expensive-looking new wheels?? I doubt if they're going to fit anyway.

They may fit, but it may end up looking like a trapezoid with the narrow end to the road... like those old D1 drifting 86's half a decade back.

I would try tirerack and find the oem tires and see what size rims they fit on. They should have that info.

Edit: OK, cut and paste didn't work but they do fit 6.5" rims, let me edit the chart a bit and post the specs.

You know, technically we all paid for those tires... I'd like to get as much of my money out of my OEMs as possible... He can buy new tires when those wear out in 6 mos to a year (depending on distances and driving style) or he could shell out $3-400 now...

To the best of my knowledge, the only difference is steelies and alloys, along with equipment. As per dimensions I believe they are the same.

If the OEM's are in good shape I'd sell 'em and put that towards a new set. Then I wouldn't have to pay to get them replaced later.

Or alternately, he could put better summer tires on his new rims and keep his old ones... run them in the winter, and when the Contis wear out, replace them with snow tires...

If you count the lugs in the photo, there are 10 lugs... so it's designed for 5x114.3 and 5x100 lug patterns.

If you look at the photo of my new wheels, there are 8 lugs on them... designed for 4x114.3 and 4x100 lug patterns. the Versa is 4x114.3. So if they are EXACTLY as pictured above, they won't fit. Hopefully they were smart enough to send a version that has only 8 lugs instead of 10.

most wheel site's use stock photo's of wheels and may not actually show the wheel you are purchasing

I had a set of Universal 4 lug rims laying around from an old honda I used to own. I just swapped the factory tires over to the aftermarket rims. So far ive put about another 20k miles on the factory tires. Now here in a couple months I plan on buying 17 inch rims, and new tires, when my factory tires start going bad, im going to upgrade.

Forgive me here, but, could somebody explain to me why you would bother to spend the time and money changing the wheels over to ones which are the same size as standard? I mean, if you're going to bother to change the wheels why not spend a little more and get something slightly bigger so it looks better, and also get slightly better tires to improve the cars grip? Surely it's not THAT much more for a set of 16s or 17s with a 205 wide tire ?!??!

Depends on whose idea of "that much more".

It was, WITHOUT an extra set of TPMS sensors, close to $1000 for the rims and tires, mounted and balanced. These are 17's, 215/45/17 (which are actually CHEAPER than 205/17's). My wheels were also on clearance, about $40/wheel cheaper than most 17's. So you're talking about $1200 for a full swap without sale prices.

He has an S... so it came with steel wheels. He's spending $256 plus tax and mounting to get alloy wheels, since he can reuse his tires. When he needs new tires, he can go to 195 or 205 width tires if he chooses.. and the 15's will be cheaper than 16's or 17's.

for those of us with significant budgets (I.E. those of us well established in our careers), the upgrade to larger wheels is not as big. But TheClevelandSound is a young-un and doesn't have a big paying job. $1200 for rims and tires would be a loooooong save-up.

Well, I paid $40 to swap my tires over, to a set of rims I had laying in storage for about 4 years. Old Motegi rims collecting years of dust + $40 cash > Stock hubcaps.

Diapers? Oh I pity you.

I'm lonnnggggg past that stage -- that's the "inexpensive years". I'm through the "i'vegottabeinallsortsofactivities" and the "imateenandneedmoneynow" years and in both the "i'minuniversityanditcostscostscosts" and the "i'mmovingoutnoi'mmovingbackhomenoi'mmovingoutineedmoney" years.

I thought that once they grew up I'd have a few dollars for myself. Fat chance.

Interestingly enough, when I brought the V home the kids said "what kind of car is that? I wouldn't be caught dead in it" but now are annoyed at me when I take it.

Hehehehe,...

Well, if my kid is anything like me, his "activities" won't be too expensive. I had basically no social life growing up (gee, nerds were SO loved in school).

College I'm taking the bite on now. I put $100/paycheck into an Education IRA for him. By the time he's of college age, there will be a new 4-year school in Everett (well, a major branch campus of UW, anyway) so he can live at home if he goes there. His aunt and uncle have decided to buy savings bonds for him annually until he's 16 so he'll have money for a used car.

And if he isn't active in sports (likely he won't be), and he wants teenage fun money, he can do what I did and get himself a job.

i was looking at the same wheels, but they were the 8 spoke instead, and i was also going to go with 15s but 7 inches wide and run the stock tires. but now im looking at the falken hanabis in saten silver 17x7. im gunna buy the rims with my income taxes then finance the tires at my local tire store (les schwabs) where i already have an account.

Snyper - I used to buy from Schwabbie until I realized that they're about 15-20% more expensive than everyone else... AND Les Schwab charges extra for special orders. See if you can't get the same kind of account at Discount Tire, you'll save a ton on the tires, and if you have to special order, there's no extra charge.

(Unless you're looking at getting Proxes tires, which are exclusive to Schwabbie)

yes i realize schwabs is more expensive but i already have an acount with them. i cant afford to pay for wheels and tires out of pocket or else i would. i dont know about proxies, i dont need anything that sporty.

btw i live where that first schwabs opened and have met les himself.
