Hello everyone,

I just purchased a 95 240SX

Here is my first list of items I will be getting for it next week.

I would like some opinions on whether or not these are good choices.

Oil change - what oil ?fuel filter change - 300 ZXtranny oil change ? what oil ?cleaning the carb with carb cleaner and cleaning the MAF with carb cleaner.

Any suggestions ?

oil - mobil 1 synthetic and nissan filtertranny- redline synthetic MTL or mt-90there is no carb, if you mean throttle body then carb cleaner will do fine. maf- use brake cleaner b/c it doesnt leave deposits and lube like carb cleaner does. the maf is sensitive, dont spray directly into opening. also, do air filter, o2 sensor. check aiv for proper opperation if it is still there, you can do a search on that.

good choices man. as for engine oil i like to use anything thats full synthetic. i change my oil every 2k anyway. but i'd suggest mobile1 synthetic. and for transmission oil i'd suggest some red line. i just got my 93 and it was kinda notchy for the transmission. but after flushing and changing out the transmission oil for some red line manual transmission oil, it was all good.

as for a carb cleaner i've heard good things about "sea foam". but i have yet to try it.

sorry guys i meant throttle body. Now that I think of it o2 sensor is a great idea as well.

As for air filter it has an injen intake installed.. how would I go abouts cleaning the filter element.

get a k&n filter cleaning kit. read the instructions and be sure to go easy on the oil.

sea foam isnt carb cleaner, and you prob. dont need to use it.

marshun - how did you flush your transmission?

one more thing we all missed- diff. fluid, and if your up to it, dot-4 synthetic brake fluid. you might want to change pads if you do the brake fluid since you have it appart anyway. if you repeatedly do short trips (less then 12 miles) then change synthetic every 4-5k and if its alot of highway then 10k, synthetic breaks down MUCH slower than normal oil, and you change that every 3k

Hey,

Yes brake pads i will be doing. I never bled a brake system. Are there any good sites to outline how to do this.

In 2 months I am doing a 5K trip which will take 5 days 1000 K a day .. so i will change the oil before i leave and right when i get there.

Were can I get NGK plug cables guys ?

for the diff fluid if you do it, redline diff fluid, and remember, you dont need to bleed the brakes when you change the pads, but i would anyway cuz its good to change brake fluid once a year

i will get back to you on the ngk plugs and wires, you may also want to change the distributor cap. when you do the plugs and wires, do them 1 at a time and finish one before you start on another, if you get them mixed up, all hell will break loose
