I can't find a N/A transmission anywhere local nor can I find one cheap enough I'm willing to pay $120 to have it shipped to me. My transmission makes a little noise, it scratches going into 2nd and clunks when I go into 4th. I don't get anymore than a normal amount of metal "dust" when I drain my fluid, It's mainly bearings. The FSM shows how to overhaul the transmission, and I'd like to do it myself to keep costs down plus learn something new. Just wanting to know if this is a good rebuild kit or where one can be found.

For the price it better be. The company seems to have good reviews. Have you priced it through Nissan? May be the same price to take it apart, find the failed parts and order just what you need through Nissan then you know they'll be good quality. If that's out of the question then i'd go for them.

The trans is easy to rebuild also. I've only had issues with the nissan 5 speeds in the older pickups and it was only input shaft bearings making noise (easily mistaken for a throwout bearing) Take bellhousing off, tailshaft off and you can pretty much put the center in a vice and disassemble the shafts there. That's how nissan shows you to do it in school. You're going to need access to a press to replace some of the syncros on those shafts.

I haven't priced it through Nissan, but I don't want to pay someone to do what I can do. I know I need syncros and bearings, so I need a complete kit. I'm gonna tear down the transmission that came out of my parts car to see if it's even rebuild-able, I got some shavings out of it when I drained the fluid but my dad thinks it's just bearings. I've found another kit but it's just as pricey

I guess it can't hurt to try to do it yourself I certainly wouldn't attempt to do it by myself. I would have someone with more knowledge on the subject watching over my shoulder.. Worst come to worse you will be out the money you spent on parts and the time you spent.

As long as you go strictly by the FSM, I don't see anything that could go wrong. I love to take things apart to see how they work, so this will be a learning experience for me
