Hello i have a 1995 240, a few weeks ago the gasket between the turbo and exhuast manifold went out, so i got a new one and fixed it, well its been about 3 weeks and it has happened again. so me and my brother was tryin to find some copper to make one ourselves, well a dude down the road from me has a shop and races RX7's so we stoped in there to see if he had anything that would work. he didnt but he said if we bring th two parts in then he could grind the two surfaces flat and i wouldnt need a gasket. i have never heard of this, but he siad he does it to all his cars that he races. so should i do this or not? the way i figure it is if it doesnt work then o'well because then i could just put a new gasket in there and it will be like it never happened right? well could someone tell me if this is a good idea, and is there and way it could damage my car, because i dont want to do it then. and its like a 2 hour drive to go to the place where i got the first one, and i dont want to make that drive if this will work.

ok thanks if you read this and have any input.

If I read this correctly, which I think I did, he's telling you that he can resurface the surface on the head for the exhaust side so you DON'T have to run a gasket??

That doesn't seem very reasonable to me. I've yet to hear about this. I mean even the head and block need a gasket in between.

I wouldn't do this. BTW, they sell copper gaskets for the SR's exhaust side.

Not mani to head.

however i would not do that. i have hurd of it and i think its a terrible idea, if you have a stainless mani it wont work at all. The mani and the turbo will heat up at different rates because the mani (if its not stock) is stainless steel and the exhaust housing on the turbo is cast iron. just get a nissan gasket, make sure all 4 bolts are tight and be done.
