i could get a 88 ca18det motor for $400. But it comes with no ecu, harness, or transmission. And there is now warranty on the motor. Are these parts easy to come by? I plan on trying to fit a ca20 crank in there and rebuilding the motors internals.

Or should i just get a 91 front clip for 1500? Which route would be the cheapest way?

Get the 91 front clip as parts will not be so easy (ecu, etc) to come by. 88 CA18DET is a bit on the vintage side, but they still work.

get both if your gonna xperiment with the ca 20. but I agree with boost. you MIGHT save 200-350, but it will be a much bigger hassle and the savings might evaporate in the parts hunt.
