Guys-

I've always wanted a 240 but never really had any motivation to get one until a recent deal came up. I found a '95 SE 5-spd with like 170k miles and a blown head gasket. Can't really afford a SR yet, but wondering if it's a good deal. He's also throwing in a HKS CAMP, Turbo timer, gauges, and short shifter (he was preparing for swap).

Worth the hassle to sell my current daily (1G DSM) and purchase? What do you guys think? My daily is pretty fast, 16G, AWD, etc, but I've always wanted a 240.

More info on the car please. Any dings in the body? That's aweful high mileage for a S14 - most S13s barely have that. I'd keep the DSM, but that's just me.

It's a normal 95 SE. It's bone stock.

Has some dings that could prolly be removed, etc.

I would start out no more than 2000. Shoot him some thing low and try to work from there. I would try to swing both cars if its possible. The worst case is you fix the head garket and make some money on the car. Nick

That's true, the DSMs break all the time. I'm not too familiar with the 240s (yet, saving up to get one) but I would imagine that they are more reliable than the DSMs. Or at least more so than the 90% of the DSMs I came across (modded).

Ideally if you could keep both, do so. The AWD is just fun and so is the RWD. Plus, if you work on cars yourself, 2 are beneficial to have. I need another one.... :)

i was going to say that since you have the supra, i would keep the dsm, or better yet, put all of that money from buying and/or fixing/modding either car into making the supra a reliable fast daily driver

Why do you want a 240SX if you have a Supra?

Anywho...think real hard if its worth the hassle to get the 240SX. IMO.....I would sell the DSM, mod the S H I T out of the Supra, and get a nice beater.

My Supra is already pretty heavily modded, and I want a daily driver that is fun. I really don't want to daily the Supra, it's my weekend car.

DSM has been serving me great, I'm one of the few lucky ones who got one that doesn't break down alot. I'm just wondering if it's worth the hassle, or if this is too good of a deal to pass up?

Is it a good price, even with the high mileage?

That's not high mileage....S H I T...my car has more miles than that. The only thing to consider is the blown head gasket.

How much is the guy asking for?

It seems as if your going to park it and work on it when you get the funds....right?

I'm probably gunna sell the DSM as I have a few interested buyers.

I will have more than enough funds to fix the car and get it up and running. I'm just worried about getting this car and then going to fix crap since it has so many miles.

As long as its been cared properly for. oil changed reguraly and stuff then i don't think that it will be a problem

For 2K I would buy it......the blown head gasket is the only problem..but see how low you can go.

Now...did the owner tell you why it has a blown gasket?

Also is the engine FUBU? (F U C K E D Up Beyond Understanding)

I'm asking this because one guy blew the head gasket on his S13 and let the car just sit there....over time the engine has a nice mixture of oil, water, and coolant in the head and block. Basically...that engine was DONE and it was cheaper to swap the motor (for another KA) than to fix it (or try to).

It's probably been sitting for a few weeks in a garage, and then recently outside to have people look at it.

Honestly, it *might* not even be the headgasket, it could be as simple as plugs, wires, rotor, cap, etc. The overflow was dry, but no signs of oil. The dipstick had no milky stuff, so really, it could be anything. But I'm going to look at the WORST case scenario so I don't go in over my heads.

Good price?
