I found this on ebay auction# 200198832737 I am still chasing my miss at idle and I am wondering if this will allow me to isolate cylinders and figure out which one is causing my problem. Also I found a snap on mt2500 which has cables to connnect to the 91 q45.Which one would do the job? Thanks

If you look at the pic in the ebay ad, the black piece on the right is a serial to USB adapter. I'm not sure that piece comes in the base price. Unless you have a serial port on your (older) laptop you're going to need to buy this adapter in addition to the cable. It's in the fine print of the ebay posting.

If you end up having to buy the black adapter and data cable I think the price will be high enough to make it comparable to the Blazt package which a lot of us are happy with. Also, the Calumsult software shown in the ebay ad is free online and your data cable purchase may not come with any software at all. If money's not too tight spend the extra $$ and get the Blazt package and be done with it.

Nothing beats a $6500 real Consult I or II because every software implementation I've seen seems to be missing parts necessary to do total diagnostic. Not to mention no ABS, Airbag, or transmission diagnosis programs.

We have tried Gensys, Snapon, etc, etc all are pretty worthless compared to the real thing for OBDI.

Something is better than nothing but you could build a black box with 8 push buttons to interrupt injectors. {Power balance} if you have access to multiple old harness to strip off connectors.

I would skip that one and go with the USB Consult adapter. There are multiple issues with using the serial to USB adapt. - only certain ones work. I could never get the serial version to work with multiple computers... even with my desktop computer that has a serial input.

Another thought on finding your dead cylinder... try using a non-contact IR thermometer to find the cooler leg on the exhaust manifold.
