Check the private party price range on the Kelley Blue Book web site (kbb.com). In the midwest, the price for an automatic with the premium package ranges from $10k for one in fair condition to $12k for one in excellent condition.
Regardless of the car's appearance, you need to pay a mechanic, who is knowledgeable about Infinitis, to perform a thorough inspection. If the seller won't agree, the car most likely has a serious problem he doesn't want you to find. Someone on the forum may be able to recommend a mechanic If you tell us where the car is located.
2003 was the first year for the G35. The preferred model years are 2005 and newer.
Since this is a fairly old car with quite a few miles on it, you need to keep a cash reserve for repairs. I would suggest $1,000 to $2,000. If you are buying a 2003 because you can't afford anything newer, you would be wise to find something you can afford or keep saving until you have enough to buy a newer model.
I can't help you with CARFAX beyond warning that a clean report is no guarantee of a good car. If the report lists an incident, you can believe that it is real. However, not everything gets into CARFAX. About all it's good for is a preliminary check to eliminate the sure losers that aren't worth the time or money required for a proper evaluation.
