It's for sale cause the engine went kaput.

I just don't know what to ask for with my car in its current condition.

Please let me know what the market is at for this condition car.

I checked for my local listings and people are selling it for about $8,000-9,000 for 2001-2002
since your engine is damaged, I searched for qx4 engine and they can be found easily for less than $2000 with relatively low mileage (70,000 miles). So I would think that 2,000 is pretty good price. In fact, I would ask for $3,000.

Is there no fix to the engine?

AFAIK, there is no fix. I know SOMETHING came loose inside the engine so when I crank it, it turns over and starts but when idling, there is a horrendous metal crunching noise that overshadows all other noises.

Hmm.. maybe I should revise to try to get at least $3,000 then.
But then again, it does have some body damage, such as the rear bumper is loose from a minor bender, there is a big gash on the front bumper from hitting something. rear quarter panel has a slight dent about 1 foot long... etc.

So cosmetically, it ain't really a looker but it drove fine before the engine went.

So do you still think I can ask for $3000?

I wouldnt give 3k for it, at that mileage it will need alot of stuff fixed in terms of bushings, suspension etc. Interior looks a little beat too.

I think what you are asking for it is a good price, maybe a max of $2500, so then you can negotiate more with someone, like oh i just dropped it 500$ for you, so its 2k now etc.

So you guys saying that $3K for 200Kmi+ QX4 with no engine is a good price?
I found couple of QX4s 01-02 with 130Kmi for $4500-$6000, why are they so cheap? Cosmetically look good inside and outside with clean carfax. With such a low price they may have some MAJOR issues? ;)

well if he has maintained it well it could be worth the 3k because if it runs smoothly as he stated, then only the engine is the mayor problem. I agree that 2,500 would be a happy medium though
