I've been calling junkyards today trying to find a VLSD out of an Infiniti and I finally found one. It's from a 95 with 20k miles on it. He first said he wanted $600 for it and thats insane. Then he goes well I can do $400. Isn't $400 for that a little much or is that a fair price? What would be a fair price for it?

I would say you should be able to do it for 300 but that is not that rediculas of a price. If you find one online for 300 then you have to pay 65 for shipping you dont save that much and it probably has more miles.

That doesn't sound to bad, is he going to give you it, or are you going to have to take it off the car yourself? I mean it's no big deal, but it is time consuming. Of course, you know that jspec, HT, and phase 2 all have LSD's.

The 300zx turbo differential will not work on a 240sx, and the 300zx NA ones require more work than a J30 differential.

I totally forgot that those places sold them. Brain lapse on my part. And I'm not sure if I'd have to remove it or if they would remove it for me.

not to mention there are NUMEROUS articles about this subject if you use the search button.

Also, the j30 is not at all the same as a 300zx turbo differential. The final gear ratio's are different. a 300zx turbo diff cannot be used for its ratio number is too low for us to use. the 300zx n/a differential has different output shafts but has the same ratio as a 240's diff. The j30 bolts right on (i should know i have one on my s13) but you may have to swap the covers. the ratio is slightly lower than a 240's but not a real problem.

i would probably pay 400 if it means not buying the $$ output shafts.300 does seems to be the standard though for an r200v.look at this way...you already talked him down 200$

I might call him back tomorrow to see if I have to pull it myself or not. He also said he's had the car for a while, so I'm sure if I said I'll give you $300 ish for it, he would take it.
