I have been shopping for a used 2008 G35x. Drove a number of them and found one today for about average price.

Carproof report showed in 2009 it had a minor collision to "front centre" and the insurance payout for the damage was $1475. Sounds relatively minor.

Today when I drove it (3 yrs after that accident), the driver door doesn't seem to close flush, or smooth or seems to hit just very slightly as it closes. The passenger door, and neither of the rear doors for that matter, do this.. they all close smooth as they should.

The dealer tells me that this is just a problem with Nissan doors because they are heavy and they hang over time and that they will just re-adjust some type of bracket in the door frame to have it close properly.

Is the minor accident 3 yrs ago and this door problem likely related? If they are, is it serious enough to not consider buying the car which is otherwise in good shape (120kms) ?

Ask the seller to allow you to take for an estimate

Doors should all close smoothly. The dealer is full of crap. I would not consider purchasing that car at this point.

a new door bracket could solve that problem. with that said you would assume both doors would be hanging slightly low right?

I wouldn't assume that unless the passenger door has been open as much as the drivers door, so not likely.

I would also walk away.
However, if you are determined to get this one then you should have a trusted body shop check it out. I think there is more damage than what you are being told.

I made an appt for both a body shop and a local Infiniti dealer to inspect it.. but after thinking about it I decided not to buy.. there are plenty more out there with less mileage and less headaches.. still looking forward to joining the Infiniti club!

That's the right decision. If you are not sure then walk.
