Yeah, a bad piston!TLeid wrote:I'm possibly buying this mint 180sx with 88000kms but he said that he did a compression test and one of the cylinders is out and it blows white smoke out the exhaust. So i know this is a sign of a head gasket but could it be something more serious or less serious.
I'm just wanting to knnow what i'm getting into cause it's pretty cheap.
Thanks, Tyler
Well it's a pretty cheap trade for a mint chassis with 88000kms on it. only like $3000 and he says it still runs just under boosts and blows out white smoke with no compression on a cylinder. Is there really any way i can check for it to be a head gasket or piston or would i have to take the head off to find out?zmannz wrote:Is the chassis worth it?I would decide at this point if I was looking for a car to build or drive off the bat. If you get that car, I mean, guaranteed rebuild and write in the cost of building a good motor. Or, get yourself another one that IS running and reliable so you can drive it.
I know how I work, I bought a running rb20 hatch a few months back and was about 90 percent done with my ca18det coupe. Now I have a massively upgraded rb20 powered coupe and a very stock ca18 hatch and neither one is running because I am poor. I will note though, both cars f'ing rock when they do go...
