Hey everyone. New to the forum totally new to Nissans in general. I've been into Hondas and Motorcycles my whole life so asking for some opinions her.

Ive been looking for a car for a while. Havent really had any luck on good deals. I was looking all over for something around $1000-$1200...was looking at CRXs, integras, eclipses and celicas but never was looking for a 240 but it just so happened that my friend is selling her 240 to me for $800.

It is a 1993 hatchback with 163,xxx miles. decent body, good interior and what not. Its an automatic but doesnt really matter because i dont fix up cars anyways (I rather put money into my r6). Nothing known wrong mechanically except for a very slight power steering fluid leak. And it is however a SALVAGE title. Keep in mind im really only looking for a side vehicle, my motorcycle is my main form of commute.

So all that for a simple question...do you guys think its worth it?

He is in Cali...

$800 is good... for a clean title. Salvage cars hold very little value; talk her down to $650 and it's not so bad.

He never said he wasn't mechanically inclined, just invests money in his bike instead.

And yeah, you're right, cold and rain in SF, but not like here! lol

Honestly I'm not real good with cars but i know many people that can help me out mechanically on cars.

Yeah, just to clarify i wouldnt drive the car unless it's raining or if its super cold (rarely here in SF) or if i needed to carry extra passengers or packages which probably would come out to an average of 2-3 times a week.

not sure if youve been in the back seat of a 240 hatch but its very uncomfortable so not sure if your planning on carrying 3 more full size adults a lot because they would be very cramped. as for carrying things it should be fine just make sure the hatch doesnt leak

The backseat in a 240sx is only slightly more useful than the backseat in a Miata.

Figure out why it has a salvage title and go from there. I would never buy a car with a salvage title, just not my thing.

My car has a salvage title and it's just because the previous owner claimed it for hail damage... BUT, my car was $200.

i wasnt aware that the hatch leaks on the 240...is this a common thing or a rare occurrence...sorry for being such a newb about the car. I really have no clue what to really look for in Nissans...

I did forget to mention that recently the key lock broke on the driver side door. The key will not work from the outside but works from the inside and the key works on the passenger side so im sure its not the key. Anybody have any ideas...I was thinking something might have come loose inside the panel?

THANK YOU for all the opinions and advice. Honestly it has helped a lot.

its pretty comon for a hatch to leak because the weather strippingas for the key your gonna have to take the door panel to see whats wrong with it(isnt hard at all)
