Hello all, this is my first post, been lookin at this site for a while. This is my first car.I need help to decide if I should buy this car.165,xxx milespower steering, power windows, power locks, power steering, and A/Ccondition is pretty good, the trunk and roof is still primer.smooth body, no bondo, or dents. has some scratchescustom wheels and exhaust.

I'm making this to convince my mom to buy it, cus its the only 240 i can find that doesnt need to be rebuilt, or massively worked on(im no mechanic, but I am learning how to be a collision repair tech person).the link is:[URL]http://tulsaautofactory.com/(g4jsx355vi ... n.aspx[URL]

copy and paste the url or click it, which ever works)

So choose as if you were buying it. Thanks for perticipating.

Real quick, I wanted to add. Could you please leave a comment if you can about why you picked that answer. Cause I talked to the dealer today, and talked him down to $2500, cus the hatch and roof wasn't painted, and I am confident to talk him down a little more if someone can give me a reason to. The car shifts good, I don't know the compression, but i didn't notice any drop in power while testdriving. The car drives straight when I let go of the wheel in the road. soo, thanks for participating, and helping me with this.

Hello Lonetlan. Congrats on finding a pretty nice condition car (the pics are small but the car looks clean). Though in my opinion, the price is a little pricey, of course the car's description seems very basic. If it has various mods or goodies that come with it...maybe. Best thing to do is to test drive it, and be patient. It took me around 6 years before I settled with my newly bought 240. The car isn't in the best shape, but the chassis and frame is straight, no weird leaks. Just some paint damage. I bought mine for 3800.

My advice, go check the car out. You may be surprised with what you find, whether good or bad; but by then at least you've seen and driven the car.

Happy hunting

Actually...just saw this comment...under 2500 would be a good deal. I may be called stupid for thinking of this, but in early 2000, when I was hunting for a 240. The average price for a 1991 was 1500, 92=2000, 93=2500, 94=3500, then it stops there because I wasn't looking for a s14 at that time.

Though the price seems to have gone a little up here in cali(for me). But with additional info that you just provided, the price sounds ok. Just check for leaks then. You mentioned it drives straight and shifts cleanly.

Dude i don't know what the fu*k time warp you were in but in 2001 when i got mine the car booked for almost $8000. I borrowed $7000 and paid $6000 for it.Op seems decent price but the primer kills it for the money. If they will paint it then $2500 isn't so bad.It will cost you around $500 to $1000 for the paintwork from a reputable shop.I would further negotiate or pass.Car barely books for $3000 in mint condition.

In all honesty, i wouldn't get it myself.

I got my 240 for under 1k. Yeah it has 269k miles, but the engine bay and overall chassis has no rust whatsoever. It came with tokico blues/tanabe springs and hayashi racing 505's. Id say i got a pretty good deal based on the fact that I live in southern ca where 240's sell fast.

2500 for that 240 isnt worth it. If you can somehow manage to deal with the manager and remove the wheels and wing for it, you might get a better price. I might buy it if it was 2k. -just my 2 cents.

I could probably get them to remove the wing and rims. I havent been there in a while(been on this site) but I will see what I can do, there aren't many 240's for sale here so everyone is getting jewed, and they stand firm! Thanks for the help guys!

240's are going up in price it seems...got mine for $1,000. but it was a hasbeen from a wana be tuner..thank god i rescued her..now she's safe! as far as a good deal..it depends..if ya plan on compeating or getting harsh with her on the weekends..it is probly not the best choice with your limited knoledge of mechanix (at this time)...due to the high milage of the engine....if your looking thou for a dayly driver..shure..pick her up..with a little TLC she should last a few more years without a rebuild...if your looking for a project car...then id say no!..couse you can get a beater cheep! for sho...if your a shopper like me..you might even find one for under a grand...good luck.
