I never hear anything about it anymore other than the occasional mention of a death here and there. No more complaining about troops nor the 10 billion a month (chump change now).

Why has the press/media/politicians decided to put the war in "time out"?

Because a $900 billion bill is much more interesting to the people at home.

We were all worried about the Iraq situation when there was nothing else to worry about - now that we have something on our own soil to make our blood pressures rise, the Iraq war can take a back seat to our domestic problems.

Well and starting back in 2006 the issue with the war in Iraq was how much money we were spending in Iraq. We were borrowing money (monetizing) to pay for the Iraq War effort. Now that we are spending Billions, now Trillions of dollars at home. So not only have we monetized the trillion or so dollars for Iraq into our debt, but we are now spending +$700 billion and now +$800 billion domestically that will be rolled into our national debt. No one seems to care. I guess if you are scared enough by the Media Complex and Politicians into thinking that your bottom line is on the verge of catastrophe, you will go along with anything. Typical partisan hypocrisy, it shows you how much voters can be duped by rhetoric.

I think the public thinks of Iraq as "over". They tied it to Bush and his not wanting to pull out. Despite the fact the the reduction in force was planned before Obama went into office he's going to get the credit for "bring our boys home". I think the other thing is we are going into a much larger and much worse conflict. Afghanistan is going to be bloodier and harder than Iraq ever was. I'm expecting death tolls several times higher than Iraq, just because of the nature of the terrain.

Bud

Voters were not duped. The majority saw the Republican party for what it actually is. A huge scam to Americans. So far only three Republicans have stepped up to the plate to help solve our present fiscal mess.

The rest of them may very well end up being voted out of office in the next election?

The party of small government and fiscal responsibily is no longer believed in by a majority of Americans. (Except perhaps for a few gun hugging souls living out in the woods and boonies)?

The reason Iraq has taken a back seat in the news cycle is the Irag military has taken increased responsibility for peace keeping and suicide bombings are down.

Explain how your Democrats are solving the issue? Most financial magazines and advisers call it BS but we all know Politicians know more that they do. Did I just imagine that the Dow dropped 400 points yesterday after Obama and Gaiter gave their little speeches?

"The reason Iraq has taken a back seat in the news cycle is the Irag military has taken increased responsibility for peace keeping and suicide bombings are down."

WHAT are YOU smoking? Did Obama remove the members of the military that Obama and Kerry (and others) labeled as murderers and rapists?

The war is definitely still going on. There are plenty of wars across the globe, just because the media doesn't find it beneficial to broadcast it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

MY friend joined the army not too long ago and has been through basic training. Now he is going to be stationed in Korea which is also a combat zone, I had no idea (previously) that there were any conflicts in Korea at this time. But hey, every country has their enemies.

He's bummed because he can't take his wife there because of the combat situation...

From the Rhetoric of the Obama Campaign, I was led to believe that if Obama was elected, that all of America's enemies would all of a sudden love us. That the Bush policies that incited our enemies would no longer be in effect and no one would hate us anymore. The proverbial, the Lions would lay down with the lamb.

Quote »He's bummed because he can't take his wife there because of the combat situation...[/quote]Yeah, he can't take his wife because the 2nd ID (at least it use to be 2ID) was one colossal speed bump to slow down the North Korean Army until the bombers could come out of Guam, Japan and US and nuke the **** out of the Korean Peninsula. Probably better that they are stateside.
