Is there a difference between the red 300ZX calipers and the silver ones? They look the same so I'm just assuming the difference is model year and not mechanical and is there an advantage to using the rear calipers on the 240 or is it more for looks than anything else?

to my knowledge there are no z calipers that come painted. the choice is either bare iron or bare aluminum. i choose the aluminum ones because i knew i could bling them up a bit by polishing them. i also only opted to go with the fronts. it is enough braking power for me and i auto-x my car on a regular basis. some people do the rears, some dont. the reason why i only choose to go with the fronts is because thats 75% of what actually stops the car. there are two different sizes for the z brakes. heres a good site for some info http://www.ka24develpoment.com

Link didn't work for me but no prob. I see some on ebay here and there and just the calipers are around $250 to $300, does that sound right? And when shopping for new discs for the front I would need to search for 300ZX rotors not 240 because of the size difference correct?

Thats about what they sell for.Yes youre gonna need the Z32 discs to match the calipers (30mm calipers need 30mm thick rotors)

the brakes page on that website is http://www.ka24development.com/brake_upgrades.htmlAlso look at http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm

WOW, $1169 is a little on the kick in the nuts side don't you think? You can pick up front and rear calipers, pads, rotors and a rebuild kit from ebay for well less than that. And thats for the 30mm version not the 26mm that they're selling. I am also of the understanding that Q45 brake calipers will work which have to be easier to find than 300ZX calipers. Thanks for the info.

do not pay that much! i did my whole 30mm aluminum swap for a little over $300. it was about 325 or so. i have morse remanufactured calipers (basically brand new) that came loaded (with pads already in place and all neccessary hardware). the total for just those was only $150 after i got my core charge back (yes i gave them back my nasty 240 calipers ). same store had the rotors too for $50 a piece (brand new). then i called up enjuku and got the stainless conversion lines for $75. the best part about it is i picked up all this **** local and in stock. lucky me! .i suggest calling all of your local parts stores and get pricing and availibilty on some z calipers and rotors. you have no choice but to order the lines off the net unless you have a really cool place down the road from your house that stocks just about everything after market for 240s :P.

I am so tempted to bamboozle Autozone for some Z calipers.
