I was just curious, I used to work for them. I lived in New Ulm for 6 years, now in Grand Marais. Did you have a Q when you lived in Mn? If so Which of the two Infiniti shops did you go to?? Wayne

I used to be in the 1-125th FA, first at BN HQ in New Ulm, then as a Btry Cdr in St Peter.

Always liked New Ulm, they have a neat "Hermann the German" memorial there, celebrating the German victory over the Romans in 9 AD.The name sounds kinda funny but is in a nice park.Yes I had a Q in MN.usually went to lupient but if they were booked I would go to Inf of Bloomington.

I kinda liked both dealers, even tho it seemed that lupient was a beter choice for tough problems cuz their main tech Perry is very good and knows first gens.

Inf of Bloomington would try harder to save the customer money though.

Hey Palmer, I have my Annual Training with New Ulms guys. You were in the fire support unit right? They have their tracks that shoot out copper heads??? I'm in the 1-125 infrantry unit and i'm a mechanic and it sucks so bad. Is your first seargent a big guy, but he is SUPER nice, he takes care of his troops, unlike my "acting" First Seargent. They call him "Pop" i think, but I forgot his name.

azn:

The nature of your question tells me you are kinda new with the MNARNG, so here is the scoop:

the 1-125 is an FA unit. Its various components are FIST (DETS all over), HHB, (New Ulm), A Battery, B Battery , C Battery are in Pipestone/Luverne, St James and one more town I curently dont recall. Then there is Service Battery in St Peter.

Yes the 1-125 FA employs M109A5 (CONUS) and M109A3 (OCONUS, pre positioned battalion set in Norway).

Yes we have Copperheads among other munitions.

I was with HHB as the BN Chemical Officer and later the Service Battery Commander, before I came to my current unit of assignment.

I have only been in 1 annual training and joined the Guard for 2 years and just got back from basic and AIT training last year so I still don't know what the hell is going on. But I do know that there are A, B, and C battery, just that I don't know where the hell they are from. I'm in the FIST unit at Anoka right now, but attached to St. Paul Unit. Are you still in the Guard?

[quote=" AznRide [B 1)I'm in the FIST unit at Anoka right now, but attached to St. Paul Unit. 2)Are you still in the Guard? [/quote]

1)Most of your BN is south of you.The FISters are always out on their own but the FIST detachments are in Anoka, St Paul, and New Ulm was supposed to get one too.To my knowledge those are the only 1-125 FA FIST locations.

You should find a reason/excuse to visit the firing batteries to see the other side of the BN.

I know often the FIST is attached to all sorts of manuever BN's and hardly ver gets to come "home" to its actual BN the 1-125.

They are building a new armory closer to the cities, which will entail moving a firing battery and may also get a another location for any FISTER's to drill.

2) Yes and no. I am permanent active duty in an active unit that belongs to the KY guard..Kinda an unsusual arrangement, hence it confuses a lot of PPL.Even tho the entire unit is active, it is designated guard ,so it can be used easier as a state emergency response asset and not fall under the "Posse Comitatus Act".

Having said that, many of the "normal" guard units perform as well or better, than many active units.

Your unit the 1-125 field Artillery for example has a history of outshooting some of the better regular Army untis out there.

Ask one of the older guys in your outfit, they should be able fill you in.

Also the 1-125 FA has the NCF mission, so you will see yourself deploy to Norway 100 miles north of the acrtic circle in winter, come the next major AT.Of course for Minnesota boys that weather is no problem, but the unit that lost the NCF mission to us, ahem my old unit I mean,,was a GA unit that had some real problems adapting to the cold.

Fred...:)

PS: I think the 1-125FA is one of the best self-propelled Field Artillery Batalions (1-125 FA BN SP) in the total Army to include active duty outfits.

Fred, How long have you had a Q? I see you are getting a new one. What happened to your other one? I had 2 I30t's. They were very good cars but thought if they were that good the Q must really be something. I was ready to buy a 90 Buick Reatta, but just couldn't find the right one for me, so while snooping in the trader I thought about looking for a Q. I found this one in Las Vegas. I jumped a plane and picked it up on Thurs and got up here to Grand Marais on Sun. I don't know if you know where Grand Marais is but it is about 40 miles to Canada, anyway it was a nice ride except for a problem I had, when I stayed overnight in Hinkley. I have since purchased an extended warranty and ordered spare belts, hoses and transmission kit, another remote and key from Scottsdale. I thought it might be a good idea to have spare belts and hoses on hand, up here I would be waiting for the next dog sled to come before i could get a replacement if I was on the road and one broke. Question. do you think since I live up here, and do not drive it in the winter I should still go to synthetic ATF? Also for some reason the drivers seat has some bad springs, there is 52k on it now. The lady who owned it weighed 100 lbs wet with the infiniti key in her pocket, and I weigh around 150, so it isnt because some one heavy has broken them, and for some reason my back was killing me on the way back from Vegas, right where the lumbar support should heop, anyway I finally stuck a stocking cap where my back hurt, and it really helped so I was thinking about going to some upholstery show and gettig the seat springs fixed and beafing up the back of the seat where my back hurts. Any thoughts?? Wayne

I have had Q's since 97 now.The first Q was a gorgeous ivory pearl quartz 92 Q45.

The first one guides went destroyed motor, and I fixed it with used motor *(paif $3800 for a marginal used t/o), guides went again within a year and I was so broke I had to let the car go.,

18 months later I bought a grey 91 for which I had new guides installed within less that 50 miles of getting the car.

This grey Q I sold to a friend in Minnesota (he is a non active member here, name of Mike), who still has it and just loves it.

The reason I sold it was I had a chance to get a tastefully modded Q45 from another NICO member (Ruben C.), whom I had known from way back the days in the yahooinfintiowners club, (many consider the Infiniti section the continuation of the old yahoo site. because almost all active members moved as group from there to here).

that Q was a South CA and TX car its entire life and Mike picked it up in San Antonio for me and drove it to Louisville while I was gone on an excercise, so no one else would buy it.

In exchange I gave him a smashing deal on my grey one which just had all new injectors, new ox sensors, new MAF, newknock sensors, new upper links,. new shocks, new sway bar bushings, new transmission cooler + some new leather installed.

The ivory pearl quartz one I put into aboslutely perfect shape as well, with the help of T3, + a locla upholstery shop.I totaled it less than a year after I bought it..:(

Its sitting in my driveway now awaiting my moving it into a freinds shed so I can start parting it out for fellow club members.

In the meantime I am buying Rex's car, as shown in my signature.

Wayne:As for your seat:

Q's tend to have great seats, if your gives you trouble take it to a decent uphoilstery shop you may be able to get it fixed for a lot less than you think.

My unit is not going anywhere dude. We have to drill at Camp Ripley...however, I heard New Ulms guys are going over see for their annual training, and this is not their first. Are you still an officer?

Interesting exchange guys. My buddies and I used to go on golfing excursions to Warroad where they have some nice layouts and all the golf you could get in in a day for $10. Once we walked all day and got in 45 holes and since I carry my clubs it felt like I was in the infantry (sort of) because I was doing a lot more shooting than a decent golfer should, spending a lot of time in bunkers, peering around trees, fighting boggies, eating feild rations and my dogs were killing me.

I believe that petit women are very hard on seats. My petit wife is small enough that even in the J she can get up on her knees to mess around with stuff in the back seat. (Calm down guys, that isn't what you think it is. :D ) Even though my wife only weighs 110 pounds, pivoting around on just one knee could produce a lot of concentrated pressure and break a spring.

1) When the battalion goes to Norway it ususally sends a battery plus or a a BN -.

When they send a battery plus they are usually looking for 13 series personnel to fill the gaps of some family guys, business owners/self employed etc who often can't stay away from home as long as AT unless a real emergency.

When you are in a FIST detachment you often dont hear about te volunteer drives for the Norway AT because the dets are so out of the way and rarely have leadership senior enough to go to some key meetings.

I remember how we always search far and wide, over the BN to find extra folks for Norway AT's.

If there is one coming up and you want to go you will find a slot.

The thing is the FIST detachments ofetn arent close enought to HQ in new Ulm to hear whats going with stuff like that.

Especially when you are attached to a manuever element, and use their BN HQ for your admin instead.

2) Yes.

The wheels on it are just gorgeous and give a modern and expensive look to all 90-96 Q45's.A really really good fit with a Q.17 in Antera styleToo bad the ones on the left have super bad curbrashdue to the accident.:( I just noticed that lately I was looking forward to putting them on another Q someday. They may be fixable,I dunno.

Fred, That sure is a nice looking Q, the one you wrecked. for some reason I couldn't pull up the pictures of it wrecked, I got an error message. I think you said it was totaled. I was wondering how does the Insurance company treat you on something like that when the book value is low and I and alot of other guys have way more invested then the book value?? I really do like the wheels you have on your Q. What difference did you see by going to 17" versus 15"?? Wayne
