first question is obvious, what rattles. ive got everything in but the bass havent finished my box. I have 4 layers of stinger roadkill sound deadener on the deck lid, 3 layers throughout the trunk and quater panels, 2 layers on top and bottom of the rear deck, and 2 layers on each door. I have talked to a few people who have these cars and they say there is rattle they cant find. Any ideas? second question, what can you tell me about the altenator other than it doesnt put out much more than a riding lawn mower . If you have put in a system how big and what side effects did you have? Did you need a better battery and/or upgraded wiring? Anything along those lines would be helpful.

Thanks

The car has rattles without any Booming stereo. You add a little bump and they all come out to play. Basically get your system finished then hunt for the rattles.

I am running a 4 channel and Mono amps and when I hit the brake my RPM's drop and car stutters long enough to feel it. It usually happen only at night when I am using my lights, stereo and the heater. I am hoping it is due to the battery either weak or too small and not the alternator.

Do the lights dim when the bass hits? Does the car take off slower if your playing the system? I am leaning toward replacing it with a high end stinger battery, and upgrading the wire, just would rather not. As far as the rattles, with that big of an amp and that high end of a system i would rather find as many of em as possible first but thank you.

Lights do not dim but it does take off slower. So you think it is the battery? My replace it with a Optima at Costco then.

Optima batteries are great if they are bought at a stereo shop the ones that can be purchased at Autozone, oriellys, etc dont discharge as fast check your ratings before buying it. I work at a stereo shop and i have noticed a difference jumping from optima to a high output stinger battery or a kenetic. upgraded wires also help feed your cars electrical and battery so i would suggest a true 4ga atleast.

You mean the ground wires correct?

Where can you get the Stinger batteries and how much more are they then the Optima's?

I would try their website and find a dealer near you, the one that is the same physical size as the optima is about $250. I believe the one i priced for my girlfriends is $200 even its the same physical size as the factory with the discharge rate of probably 4 of them. As far as the wires, im talking everything, battery to chassis ground, battery to car fusebox, motor to car, everything. Doing this will allow the car to run smoother, and get the more power when it needs it. I talked to my boss(who has been doing this longer than i have been alive) about the lag problem on when you have your system up and we came to the realization that its a nissan. Sorry just kidding, the drive by wire systems are all ran of coarse by computer which needs power; however when a bass note hits it pulls the power stored up and the computer its the little bit that was left. So here inlies the solution, we both have to upgrade the wires, batteries, and pray it fixes it lol.

A cap might help as well. Although after the car is started it will be a load just like the battery. Just my 2 cents on the matter. I would try a 1 farad to start with..

Right now i have a 4 farad. I havent forgot bout doing it just didnt put it. However you are right. From what i have witnessed at work though, i look at a cap as just a band-aid not a problem fix, without all the rest of the upgrades.

I will try the Cap and upgrade the ground points with better wiring if that do not help then battery will be my next move.
