Is there any difference I should know about between a Manual verses the autom,

I've been searching for the past couple of days for a new radiator. It looks like everyone is pretty happy with the KOYO aluminum unit. My question is does the 95 ka motor need a specific radiator (manual or automatic) for the transmission that is in the car. I only ran across One site that sells one or the other. My concern is, I have automatic now, but my project could become a manual when I add all the hp later. All help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, the automatic transmission has a transmission fluid cooler if I recall. However, I'm pretty sure you can just block it off going from auto->manual.

Yes the automatic has a cooler in the radiator. If you convert over to manual you just block the lines on the radiator. Since you have an automatic now you need to find a radiator for the automatic.

Thanks for the information. Does anyone remember seeing a KOYO radiator for a 95 ka automatic? If so please include the web link.

Well, as an addenum to this thread:

Don't buy a large aluminum radiator (koyo) if you're not racing. Better cooling isn't just for kicks. If your engine doesn't get hot enough, it will not run as well. On a normal street application, the koyo is likely to make your car lose power, by making your radiator more effective at dissipating heat (the source of your engine's power) from the engine.

So, basically unless you are overheating under race conditions: don't get a koyo.

also, if i'm not mistaken the stock automatic S14 radiators are already the largest ones you can get in a 240.

its bigger than the auto and manual S13, and i'm reletively certain the manual s14 radiator is smaller than the auto.

Get one with the steel tanks on it or they will crack again. (DJ knows that) I picked up one for my s14 before i did my rb26 swap. I ended up using it for 10 minutes than sold it DjPantsSpecR. I got it from a junk yard for $84 new but i worked it off sorting scrap. I now have a Koyo in my s14 but it needs that because it will hopefully be laying down like 600whp this summer. I know people with sr20 swaps laying down 300+ that still swear by the stock radiators. They all have upgrade electric fans that are keeping well cooled and they drift with there 240's.

Actually the lines dont need to be blocked if he switches to a manual. The automatic cooler is just a coiled metal line that sits in the bottom of the radiator, and is sealed from the regular coolant flow.

You could use a radiator for a manual car but you will need to use an external cooler, which usually work much better anyway. I have done this on Mazdas, Nissans, Toyotas, Hondas.......have never had a problem.
