Right now I go to the index for each model, Versa 2012 sedan for example. Click on a section, then save the pdf file on my hard drive. With some 20 to 30 sections per model it's taking 15 to 20 minutes for each year plus there might be a different manual between sedan and hatchback. It will take a few hours just to save all the Versa manuals. And there are over 50 different models between Nissan, Infinity and Datsun. Could take months if I do it an hour a night or so. Is there an easier way?

You're pretty much describing how we downloaded them and uploaded them. Question: why are you needing every single manual? We plan on hosting them forever.

Most likely to offer them for resale on fleabay.

Can the download process be sped up? Yes, but not by NICOclub. There are however, hardware and software solutions that you can implement to improve your download speeds.

I don't but since I don't know what cars I'll own next year or 3 years from now, I'd want to save them.

That's probably what they said at one of the Dodge forums. A sponsor Chrysler dealer had the manuals from the early 1990's up to 2008 posted and I had the forethought to save them. Then when I went to check if the newer models were posted, I couldn't find any of them. I guess due to copyright issues they had to take them down.

If that ever happens to Nissan, I hope you can give like a 30 day notice to all NICO forum members.

Most places like courtesy parts have a good lookup. And this isn't a sponsored hosting. We own these manuals.

the information is saved on nico's servers. it'd be an in house decision to take them down.

this still doesn't make sense. that's a ton of information to download on a whim because you may be in the market for a huge range of vehicles spanning decades in the next few years.

Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. - Arthur Conan Doyle

I stand by my original assessment. Probably going to be offered for sale on ebay. I cite this example:

Nissan Skyline R32 R33 Rb20 Rb25 Rb26 GTR GTS GTST Factory Service Manual FSM Price: US $9.99 - $10 Shipping for hard copy
Item condition: New other (see details) “.PDF copy of FSM ; Either hard copy on CD-ROM (+shipping) or vitrual By E-mail”

If you have to provide the customer with a hard copy, a blank CD and cardboard mailer will set you back about 37¢, and media mail is $2.69 (total $3.06), for a profit of $16.93.

I've got a better idea... How about you go find someone else to mooch off of?

Now that I know who you are, I'll be notifying our contacts at Nissan of what you're trying to do. If I find one of our FSM's (which are marked for identification) for sale someplace, my attorney will make sure you have a real, real bad year.

I paid for the manuals so that our members can use them to repair their cars, not so some half-wit shyster who doesn't want to work for a living can make a few bucks off my hard work. I can see you're only using the forum to help you flip auction cars, so you just lost that opportunity.

I've saved your information (email and IP), and will have the rest of your info by morning. Thanks for making it easy, since you're the only Ati Kovi in the US.

I'm also a member of an Administrators' forum (for people who own forums). You can bet we'll be discussing you, so don't be surprised if you wind up banned on several sites. We look out for each other.

You can GTFO. :slap:

I see guys selling bootlegs of almost everything around the DC area everyday, it's not surprising this would happen.

You are crazy. I came here for advice and get accused of nonsense this? Yes, my name is unique so why would I use it for illegal purposes like that? I've been a NICO member for over 10 years for heavens sake, not like somebody that just joined to copy the manuals. And yes, I like to keep copies for myself. And BTW if anyone needs Dodge Chrysler Jeep manuals, I can send them free for the asking. GEEZ!
