I have a 2018 Rogue S. I wanted to ask is there a way to turn off the automatic up and down function on the driver's window? I have to replace the glass and will need to be able to goose the window up and/or down to get it in the right position to access one of the bolts that hold the window in place on the regulator. I have to replace the glass because it had some hard water spots on it and not knowing any better I used a Scotch-Brite pad to scrub them off. I did not see the scratches until it was too late because I had sprayed the window pretty heavy with Sprayway foam glass cleaner.

I read in my owner's manual that you can move the window in increments up and down by tapping the switch a second time in the direction you need but that is not working for some reason. Plus I would rather just hit the switch one time in either direction while working on the window. After I get the new window installed I know I can restore the auto-up function by holding the switch to run the window up all the way and holding the switch in the up position for a few seconds after the window is all the way up.

Thanks for any help on this.

Jimmy

The Auto switches all have two positions internally. If you pull up or push down lightly on the switch it will move manually. If you pull up or push down all the way it engages the second throw for Auto. You shouldn't have any problem dinking the window to line up with the service holes to unbolt the pane.

The side and rear glasses generally aren't any problem to go aftermarket. It's only the windshields you need to watch out for. We've seen some cheap Far East pieces that made calibration of the Lane Camera impossible or caused rain sensors to malfunction.

Good. I have a Pilkington windshield already and it has been fine. No difference really between it and OEM. I don't have the rain sensor or lane changing gizmos. The side window is a lot thinner though and I wondered if aftermarket is the same.

Thanks

I'm not sure about the gen2 Rogues, but most side, rear, and sunroof glasses are tempered, not laminated like the windshield. They aren't expected to take routine impacts like the windshield does, and your head is also much less likely to go through one in a crash.

I went out after work today and fiddled around with the driver's window switch, figured out how to move it to just that first position for up or down, and eventually did get the window to move just for the duration I held the switch.

None of the windows on the car right now have the "Tempered" designation stamped on them. The new glass I ordered does not say it is tempered either, it just says it is solar controlled. So I think it will be about the same as what I have now.

Thanks for helping me on this VStar.
