Hi All,

I have been a Z32 owner for about 4 years now and I want to convert mine to Twinturbo. so I found myself a JDM engine that is very clean.

The question is

Is there a way to determine which year the engine was manufactured just by haveing the Engine Serial number?

Thanks,

PULSAR GTRRafi

Hi cville300zx,

My Na motor has blown headgaskets, if you are interested, let me know, I am pretty sure we can work some thing out. Catch me on msn at [email protected] for more info

The JDM motor that I am thinking of getting, has the new CAS look where the back is not flate but Dom looking type plus it has a different shape plug more roundish plug.I wish I got some pics of the engine/CAS to show you guys what it looks like, I believe the engine is from a 1997-1999 model as I have a list of JWT Z32 ecu numbers and what year they came off, but this ecu isn't listen in them.

Here is the info that I got of the engine

SN# 176788Y

ECU222371041 p02A18-000-M65 9914

Also, I am looking for some good prices on FMIC and 99Jspec taillights inlcuding the centre piece, if you know where I can get them for decent price please let me know. Thanks,

Actually your local nissan dealer might be able to help you out. The head of parts and service at my dealership is super helpful with doing research on stuf like that.

As for the tail lights...check out conceptzperformance.com he has good prices on them. He also has some good rates on the Greddy FMIC's. Coz is my buddy, tell him I sent you, he'll hook you up.

I've been into most of the performance aspects of the VG30DETT so if there's anything I can do to help just ask away

HI nsrZ32,

Thanks for you help man, I will definitely call Concept Z and get some pricing and definitely will mention your name.

Regarding the engine and verifiying it, I went to my local Nissan dealer but they have no info on how they can track the manufacturing date from the engine serial number.

I even called Nissan Canada, and these people are clueless.

Does any one know if installing a FMIC ON Z32 might cause the car to run a higher temperature due to resitriction to the air flow to the Rad? I have heard few things, but I would like to hear it from some one that is using FMIC on their Z32.

Thanks,

Well Coz (concept Z owner), someplace like courtesy nissan, or most likely somebody on the forum here should have the means to help you decode it to find out the info.

As for the FMIC......lots of people will say a lot of different things about what you can and can't do on the Z32. Trust me, I know, I've heard all of it lol. But for what its worth, I've done a lot of things that you "can't do" on a Z32 and I've seen very good results. Pretty much its just that the Z community in a lot of places is set in their ways and once they find something that works they just stick with it as opposed to finding something that works better. Obviously on a stock Z sticking something like a big FMIC infront of the radiator is going to restrict flow, but if you have the grand plus for a good FMIC then your car mostly likely won't be all stock. Granted my layout of the cooling system is far from stock (Koyo aluminum race radiator, billion thermostat, aluminum lower hard pipe, samco hoses, eliminated heater, redline water wetter, nismo radiator cap, no AC in the way, etc) but my car runs cooler with the different cooling system and the FMIC than it did stock. I wouldn't try it on a completely stock Z, but on one that's been worked over, it functions wonderfully. If FMIC's weren't any good then why would 99% of the turbo cars out there run them? Anyway, if you want specifics on my setup, how it was done, pictures, whatever...just let me know and I'll put a bunch up on here.

Best of luck and let me know any questions that you may have.
