I have a 1991 q45 with TCS and I was wondering is there a way to disable it by taking out the TCS fuse or can i just install a TCS off switch just like the 94 q45 has for better convinece?

If i do install a switch where do i wire it up to?

? You don't have a switch in the middle console? My '92 has a TCS button that when I press it, "TCS OFF" lights up in my HUD. I don't drive with it on most days.

You dont have a TCS button on the console? Time to post a pic of your console/cluster so we can see whats going on...

Im almost thinking maybe they put a TCS instrument cluster in your car.

It is so easy to make a 90-96 illegally appear younger than it is [to a novice] with just a swap of cluster.

We see them all the time were body clues don't jibe with odometer.

Does the engine have the secondary TCS throttle body or the extra garbage rearward of battery which is TCS res is located

The button is right below the shifter dude.

See it? If you have TCS in your cluster, most likely that button is there. I can't remember the diagnosis for the TCS and SLIP lights being on simultaneously while driving, but there are some posts about it. After you turn the key past the ON position, do the cluster lamps turn off? They both light up before ignition.

Please read the FSM. The wrath you'll incur from the more seasoned veterans as a result of ignorance and sloth will be quite terrible. I gave you a link to the entire thing. The whole enchilada. I know you have a '91 and the FSM is a '94. I have a '92 and I use it religiously. You can ignore the stuff about foglamps, billet grilles, and everything thing else that looks different from your '91. I want to say about 95% of the FSM will apply to your '91 with an uncanny accuracy. The '96 FSM is the doozy.

No trunk spoiler so I don't have a "t". No evidence of an "a" on my Q45 badging.

I didn't even have the wood kit in mine. I added that. I have a base model. I'm not familiar with Non-TCS, but if you don't have TCS, would you still have the lamp in the cluster?

Put your driver's armrest down an place your elbow near the front of it. Where your fingertips dangle (Unless you have freakishly long or short arms) at the bottom of the shifter is where you should find your TCS button. Do you have that little recessed area? I use mine for a coin tray, but I've seen Q's that came equipped with the CD changer have the changer controls mounted there. The button is right next to it. Closest to the passenger side edge of the center console. Can you take a picture of your middle console?

Hmm. I'm stumped. Did the '91 Q have a constant TCS then? Was it not able to be toggled on and off? You should look into that. It's pretty weird that you don't have the button. It doesn't look like it's been removed, more like it never existed. Did you get an owner's manual with your Q?

Where the hell is the rest of the center console? It's like a cavity. Did Q's come in bare bones packages like that? It doesn't seem like there was ever a CD Changer remote or car phone put in there.

I'm beginning to think that you have a non-TCS Q and that your instrument cluster was replaced. Don't know why that would happen though.

It definitely has TCS... just no button. Either the 91 didn't have it or someone removed it for some reason (which would likely be why the lights are on). Definitely strange.

I don't thinks so because I have TCS because it works for 30 secs then shuts off because I try to do a burnout and it won't let me or even if i put in first to take off while spinning the back tires it wont let me I think the person before me had it removed.

Looks like it could have been a flood recovery car due to the looks of under-hood components, did you get a history report when you purchased? title clean? Might explain why someone installed incorrect console without tcs switch{it definitly came from the factory with one installed} Are you having any electrical issues with car?

yea the TCS doesn't work to start,

the rear left door switch don't work,

the sun roof motor doesn't stop working you have to push the button in the close position in order to stop the motor when you open the sun roof

and doesn't display if i have low fuel.

it has a wire for a CD changer but no CD changer.

So thats a lot of electrical problems.

is it possible for anyone here to run a car fax report to see if you are correct which by the way no offense but I hope your not.

It seems like cause for alarm, but a lot of 15+ year old cars have odd quirks caused by past owners.

Wow that is really strange. In any event, it should be wired for a switch.. Pull the console and see if you see an empty harness, or maybe they even put the TCS OFF button under the console or something?

I don't think they are allowed to make TCS without a bypass switch. Without one it would be impossible to perform an emission test properly....unless they didn't figure that out til after '91? I guess you could just pull the TCS fuse to do emissions.

where would i be able to find the wiring for the TCS switch because i cant find it in the 1994 Manuel?

the easy way would be to get a TCS unit from a 1992 or later q45 and then take the switch with it how hard can it be?

I'm guessing that was the problem, But I never go around to pulling the console off.
