Yea, my downpipe didn't start out doing this but it started to.

I made a bracket that helped pull the exhaust toward the transmission with a rubber donut hanger.

My Greddy DP doesn't do this. It has a bracket welded on it though so it attaches to the trans, like the stocker does. Do your DP not have this bracket or something?

More than likely this is a cause of the type of exhaust you're using rather than the downpipe itself. I have a generic ebay downpipe and have not had any issues with clearance. I am, however, using a BRM exhaust. A properly set exhaust will keep the cat in the proper angle, which will then keep the downpipe at the correct angle as well.

yea the downpipe is the issue. The flex section is known to hit the frame rail depending on where the flex is placed. if it is near the bend then it will hit but if the flex section is near the back then it should clear. I would get another downpipe or get something to pull it. The more it vibrates the faster things will become loose.... exhaust mani, turbo elbow etc.

The mount for the downpipe is connected to the trans mount. There's usually a small bracket that comes off of it. I don't have any pictures of it to share, though.

well, in my world (more of a truck guy), if something is hitting the frame and it can't really be moved, you could always notch the frame and use pieces of plate to weld back in to add strength back into that area...doesn't sound like it hits really bad so I wouldn't suspect you would lose any strength in the front clip esp if you gusset it in right..just a thought..
